Bungie published their PvP data in the first or second week of this season. A few more weeks in I’m genuinely interested to see how it’s doing.
My feeling is that after the initial early season and Epic games player bump that there has been a dramatic reduction in PvP numbers. Matchmaking and games feel really bad this week.

74 RepliesAnother CBMM user wanting to stomp. Tired of these disingenuous posts. Just say you want to stomp blueberries and be done with it. Connection is fine.
-
2 RepliesMy games seem fine. Only wonky when I'm on wifi tho. As far as numbers go. I imagine the only people not playing are the ones who can't find a way to have fun in crucible. I'll give you a hint.....it's not the casuals 🙃

Show us the numbers!!!! 24 million accounts 801k in pvp and PvE yesterday is less than 30% 62,000 pc players at that time online. Assuming players played for pinnacles means those players only had to play 3 games that day, one game to register for “active”. The fact I see the same ppl with crossplay and playing at different time of the day shows me how small the player base is and the only reason 24 million is used is the same as fake Twitter accounts for Elon, artificial inflation to paint a false narrative. Bungie since 2014.

3 RepliesSo the stompers that used to stomp casuals are now getting stomped by the pros and now they’re still crying about it. Hope bungie keeps with the SBMM and lets see these so called diehards cry some more.
-
4 RepliesI played last week, queue times were as fast as when cbmm was around. Even faster I might say.
-
que times have been less then 2 minutes for me. games like call of duty valorant are about the same so that tells me its doing just fine meanwhile when i played destiny 2 years ago it used to take 10 minutes so im sure pvp is in a good state
-
1 ReplyHonestly, since SBMM caters more toward casual players I’d be willing to bet it’s up from this time last season. Not necessarily indicative of the playlist’s health though.

i went into pvp to get a catalyst done for a bow and i have to say i did enjoy myself first in a long time to be honest i never had any problems with connections or anything it went really smooth i did have a laugh playing it and hated the thought i had to go in there to do the catalyst but i will be back in again its a lot better play for a casual like me in pvp 👍

8 RepliesEdited by hate n payne: 10/8/2022 11:01:38 AMBringing CBMM into the game in D1 and D2 was one of the biggest mistakes Bungie made. It allowed the players who stayed to get better over time and the players who left or was new to the game to be the less experienced of the group. CBMM expects everyone to be on the same level when they are not and it tries to feed the “casual” essence even though it is dictated by connection over skill and experience. SBMM takes in your experience and skill over connection. It is not rocket science. Some of you assume the “C” in CBMM is “Casual” when it is “Connection”. Both systems need to give up something to improve what it is meant to achieve. CBMM gives up skill and proper lobby balancing for better connection and availability. SBMM gives up connection and availability for better skill and lobby balancing. SBMM should have never been subbed out to appease the numbers or to bring in content. Content and dedicated servers should have been the means for that and now the game is suffering from all core systems to even function correctly. This is what happens when you apply shortcuts for a natural occurrence of play while avoiding the needed improvements to extend the longevity of fun and balance. Bungie’s focus has never been about the community or even the game’s health, it has always been about control, how they want the game and money. Common sense would have been to try to find means to improve lobby balancing in CBMM due to lack of dedicated servers while improving core systems and activities. Or Weed out the problem children with SBMM by applying proper lobby balancing and connection improvements while adding dedicated servers over time aligned with improving the core systems and activities. Bungie has to pick an identity and side. Plain and simple. Cater to a repetitive, unbalancing system that is dictated by META shifts and poor decision making. Or Cater to fun, balance and the improvement of the core systems. This back and forth between SBMM and CBMM needs to stop before the game becomes its own Destiny killer. META shifts, power levels and Champions with locked loadouts are not content and should never be used as a main means of handling it.

1 ReplySo long as you have players running a hand cannon and a shotgun, pvp will always struggle. I’m so surprised that hand cannons haven’t been nerfed to the ground in pvp.

15 RepliesAztecross hit the nail on the head in his latest video. Short version to highlight. Bungie is catering to the casual player instead of the “diehard” D2 player base. History is literally repeating itself. D1 this exact system was implemented and they forced the game into a near death state. This process took about a year and then Bungie focused on the “diehard” community which drastically improved the game as a whole, especially in pvp.

2 RepliesYou can. It's called destinytracker.com

I want to see player engagement. If players play 1-3 matches a week that doesn’t mean much for the health of pvp. Besides this week is Zone Control and Showdown so a lot more players are actually playing. Curious what the pop is when it’s Scorched.

17 Replies~800k yesterday according to DTR. About business as usual tbh.

They'll be bad and get worse thanks to sb

Edited by damnter: 10/6/2022 8:07:00 PMAll I play is IB, some trials and clash when it's around twice per season. I don't touch pvp for the rest anymore. Used to play it a lot but bungie did so many things that killed it. No good maps, not enough permanent gametypes, arial ineffectifness, redicoulus abilityspam, slide nerf, sbmm and so on. They completly killed 6v6 pvp for me. And I'm defenitly not a pvp sweatlord. Just an average player. Pvp was what used to keep me playing after some pve stuff. But nowadays? I just play something else ore turn on the tv.

Edited by LadiesTees: 10/6/2022 1:59:37 PM100%. I haven’t played at all since IB. I played PVP all the time last season.
