[u][b]The Problem[/b][/u] I believe I speak for the entire Destiny community when I say that we [i]love[/i] getting new exotics! However, as the Exotic loot pool grows every season it has become nearly impossible to farm a specific exotic. We’re met with farming for a single exotic against a loot pool of dozens, crossing fingers you don’t get one that has 20 Mobility (as a Warlock) and actually fits into your desired build. For example, I’m currently working towards a Contraverse Holds build. I quickly realized that pulling one from collections would never work for a strong build and the loss of stats greatly outweighed the Exotic Armor Perk. [u][b]Lost Sectors[/b][/u] Lost Sectors currently stand as the only "feasible" method of farming a specific Exotic armor piece. However, with 10 arm pieces, getting even [b]one[/b] Contraverse Hold is an arduous task. While these are a clear method of focusing on specific Exotic arm pieces, the RNG puts the possibility far outside of reasonable boundaries -- doing upwards of 15 Lost Sectors to get a [u]single[/u] exotic arm piece that doesn't even have more than 50 stat points. (I've literally gotten 3 identical exotic arms from my last 5 engrams.) [u][b]The Solution[/b][/u] I propose Focusable Exotic Engrams to [u]replace[/u] Exotic Ciphers. As someone who has every Exotic in the game, the Exotic Cipher has quickly become a useless, insanely rare, currency that a very large portion of the community can't even utilize. It often sits in my inventory for months, collecting dust, after new exotic are exclusively released behind the Lost Sector wall. If instead we were given the option of Focusing this Engram at Xur (along with Ascendent Shards/Alloys, Legendary Shards, etc.) we would have a [i]meaningful[/i] opportunity to focus our grind in a game that has us grinding for countless hours and literal months just to get 5 patterns to unlock a single Raid Weapon pattern.
