I JUST GOT A 144HZ MONITOR, AND SOMEHOW NO MATTER MY RENDERING RESOLUTION OR RESOLUTION, OR GRAPHICS QUALITTY THE FRAMES SEEM TO BE CAPPED BELOW MY TARGET FRAME RATE

I JUST WANT TO HAVE CONTROL OVER MY FRAME RATE SO MY 144HZ MONITOR IS DESPLAYING THE BETS POSSIBLE IMAGE FOR PVP. I am NEW TO PC SO I DON'T KNOW A LOT BUT USUALLY MY GPU IS AT LIKE 70 PERCENT MAX AND MY CPU IS LIKE A 50 PERCENT AND MY RAM IS AT LIKE 70 PERCENT. i FEEL LIKE SOMETHING MIGHT BE STOPING IT FROM ALLOWING MORE FRAMES BUT LIKE I SAID, I CAN MAKE THE GAME LOOK REALLY BAD AND SMALL AND IT still HAS LOW FRAMES THAN WHAT I WANT. IS THIS MY FAUILY? AM I DOING SOMETHING WRONG HERE. IM SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO STRESSED OUT, just for reference i have a 3060gtx and a i5 11'th gen, and i'm trying to run the game in either 1080p low settings mostly or 720p, monitor is a cheap gaming philips brand 144hz monitor. THANKS FOR READING MY MESSAGE this issue has been plaguing me for a few days obviously 100fps is better than 60, i notice the difference but, isn't like, more better? or is it just like, 100 is fine, anything more is not worth it unless you can run 240hz or whatever. IM SO CONFUSED AND STRESSED I DONT' EVEN WANT TO PLAY DESTINY

  • This might help, or it might not but here goes :) Monitor's often have differing refresh rates depending on the resolution, it might be worth checking what refresh rates your monitor supports at the resolutions you're using. How is the monitor connected to the PC ? Is it HDMI or displayport ? Sometimes the highest refresh rate is only available through the displayport connection. The nvidia control panel has an option to cap the framerate (under manage 3D settings). I think it defaults to to being off, but it might be worth checking that. What's the monitor model ? It might help if people know exactly what it is.

  • Do you have vsync on? Do you have frame rate cap on? If yes to any of them, turn it off. If both are already off I can't really help, hope you get it sorted
