God's but I hate the matchmaking change to Trials this season. Used to be when matchmaking you'd be put against teams who are at the same point on their card as you which was good cause in a round about way it meant you were at least going up against opponents of a similar skill level and those more skilled we're just passing through. Sadly cause those players with maxed out cards were complaining about the wait time for matchmaking due to having smaller pool of players at that level so Bungie decides to get rid of the previous matchmaking mechanic which is nice for those skilled players but sadly it also means un-skilled players like myself are now their punching bags. Bungie really needs to bring the previous matchmaking mechanic.

It’s actually the population that’s causing this. Card based matchmaking hasn’t changed. But… The population in trials is split right now, between normal and freelance. Even if that wasn’t the case, the population would still be relatively low. The game as a result has a significantly harder time trying to find players to match with you on the same number of wins. The result is that to lower times in orbit, the game cuts corners and opens up the matchmaking parameters to people on a different number of wins. Trials, even after the revamp, still fails to have a stable and healthy population pool for matchmaking to work correctly. The rewards simply aren’t worth the frustration. I never played a single trials game in my life. I don’t find getting slaughtered with nothing in return to be appealing, and I already have some major problems I’m dealing with in life. Trials is not worth your time or my time. Let it slide.

I think win based cards have been gone for a year now.
