Eramis is right!
There has to be a better life for the Eliksni than they have now.
Next time you visit the Eliksni Quarter to see the Spider, take a moment to look around.
There are Eliksni lying on cots, exhibiting classic symptoms of PTSD or of having given up on life. There are parents nursing hatchlings in front of pitiful battery heaters near drums of chemicals, and even one poor soul scrabbling at a patch of rubble-strewn earth in a vain attempt to grow food.
The gloominess and squalor is in marked - and sickening - contrast to the sparklingTower, filled with shiny, happy (well-fed) humans.
There are Eliksni in the Tower, too, and their plight isn't much better. There are a couple down by the landing pad near the Drifter, just sitting by the dock of the bay...
There are also two beside a vending machine, one with hatchlings and the other a double amputee. And in all the time they've been there every guardian has ignored them, not even thinking to drop in some glimmer.
If the mark of a society is how it treats it's poorest citizens then the plight of the Eliksni condemns the Last City's ethos.
These beings fought alongside the Guardians, and deserve better than the wretchedness of their present situation.
So, as per the title of the post, Mithrax has betrayed the people under his care. He has condemned them to be second-class citizens in an alien culture.
Crow saw this coming...
I hope that once Saint-14 comes out of his self-obsessed mourning for the comatose Osiris, then he can bring the Eliksni out of the gloom and into the Light.
If not, then Eramis might be their last, best hope...
