SBMM vs CBMM

SBMM is defined as: "a system multiplayer games typically use to place players of similar skill levels in matches against each other to fairly balance teams and maximize the enjoyment players get from the game." (this actually sounds a lot more fair, very meritocratic, and is in fact more enjoyable from my perspective) CBMM is defined as: a system where "a pool of players is selected based on the quality of their connections." (this actually sounds kind of unfair, more like a way to make things "equal" by potentially screwing others over with something they may have NO real control over, rather than something they CAN control, that being how skilled they are) I've seen a few large YouTubers complain about SBMM being reintroduced into the game, saying that it's not as fun, or not as fair, or there's more lag with SBMM, however I have noticed the exact opposite. I'm not saying the game is not laggy anymore, I have seen a fair share of that still, however the lag has not been anywhere near as bad as it was with connection based match making, in my experience. With CBMM, a lot of times I would be in matches where I would be dead before I could even ADS, I would see the opponent, they would see me, and I would be dead practically that instant, before I even had a chance to ADS, and this was happening with weapons that I know should not kill that fast under the circumstances. I also noticed a far greater occurrence of things like ghost bullets, and people being able to hit me through the corners of pillars and walls, or instances where they would take no damage at all, or they would take a bunch of damage after the fact and then die, or they would appear semi-invisible for the entirety of the match (because the models had not loaded in). For me, CBMM was a trashy nightmare. The goal may very well have been to find the best match up based on connections, but in my case, whatever algorithm or system that was being used SUCKED. I was always getting crappy/laggy match ups, the quality of which was getting progressively worse as this game has aged, and eventually it got to the point recently where I had stopped playing PvP entirely, because it just wasn't fun anymore. If you had to ask me which is better, SBMM or CBMM, definitely SBMM all the way.

 • Sbmm for lower tier players gives them a massive pool of good connections to pick from. Not so the higher tier you go. Lag is horrible for higher ends, enemies teleporting everywhere punching from 10 feet out, dying to a single primary bullet, etc If we were to pick cbmm all the way
