The fact that most players are locked out of endgame activities for weeks to months because they dont have control over how they increase their light-level is tragic. People are spending too much time grinding D2 instead of actually learning about and enjoying D2.
The random RNG leveling system/gatekeeping mechanic Bungie calls the pinnacle ‘leveling’ system burns most players out because most players have lives outside of D2.(sorry, not sorry)
I know Bungie employees, streamers, and children are insulated from real world time constraints but the fact of the matter is most normal people can’t and don’t want to spend hours ‘grinding’ out a leveling system that they have literally 0 control over.
The pinnacle system is a toxic, manipulative tool that harms the franchise more than it helps retain a strong playerbase
Fix it.

3 RepliesLet's all upvote this people! I really want to PLAY this game instead of doing weekly chores for the first three quarters of the season.

15 RepliesYou nailed it. The pinnacle grind is the worst thing in D2. I'm always so f*ing happy, when i'm done and can now play the things i want to play.

Prime engrams should drop +1.

Just got 1580>1580 on legs. At this point, it’s intentional. Bungie wants to take a giant -blam!- on all of our free time. I eagerly await the next game willing to knock Destiny off the top of the ladder.

2 RepliesSo before you downvote, let me say that I would like to see the following changes to Pinnacles: - All pinnacles drop at +2 from current max power level, upgrade all +1 pinnacles to +2 - Provide a system or source for at least one guaranteed weapon and one guaranteed armor pinnacle per week to at least allow for some player control. The rest can remain random slot. That being said, I think it's important to note the following: - By the time your artifact power bonus is high enough for GM content (the only thing where I'd say being pinnacle capped really even matters), you should probably have hit pinnacle cap. Furthermore, GMs don't even open until well into the season - You can technically bypass pinnacles by grinding more season artifact power, though I wouldn't really call this a viable alternative I think it would be nice to have some improvements to the pinnacle system if Bungie insists on keeping it, specifically some more pinnacle options that are matchmade. Although we are getting in-game LFG in Lightfall, so that will hopefully help players like myself that don't always have people to run with. Frankly I think the artifact power bonus is a worse system because it technically gatekeeps GMs behind playtime and makes Master level harder because without the artifact, cap would be 20 levels below. I 100% agree that it's tough to complete pinnacles on all 3 characters unless you have a group ready to go all the time and you knock things out super quick. It's very difficult to coordinate all that with people who have jobs, kids, other commitments.

Maybe with Lightfall? The vid suggested they would raise everyones light to a new floor each season and then light would ONLY be determined by considering the light floor and adding the light gain from the Artifact. IF this is true (only saw a single you-tuber mention it), I expect it will improve the game by reducing the grind. However, experience with the machinations of Bungie in the past makes me worry that any grind removed by this change will be added stealthily elsewhere in the game. I hope not though (of course). We will have to wait and see how this change is implemented (if it is implemented). If it is just as it seems and nothing more, I would welcome the change and find it liberating. Currently, I don't like playing below my current maximum light level, even when it 'doesn't matter'. The result of that causes me to very often choose gear based on light level, mostly because I want to have a good feel of my 'best' weapons within the current seasons meta. Then, when I try harder content, I will at least have some feel for those weapons. The benefit of not having to worry about light for individual gear would be super helpful. It would allow It would allow me to play content I like, using gear I like, instead of chasing pinnacles, and feeling like it only made sense to infuse the most universally potent weapons (those I expect to use on harder content). 2 RepliesThis company can’t do squat. No creativity at all. They think grind is content. You are not even grinding on new content. Some are old contents you’ve played more than a hundred times over. To add to that, you’re grinding for loot but you don’t even get the loot you need. They say it’s RNG. NOT! I’ve played this game since the beginning, and this RNG is rigged. Those who did play that long already knows this. They call it looter shooter but you don’t even get the loot, and guess what, your guns sometimes don’t even shoot because it’s nerfed, a sunset light!🤣(last one was sarcasm) Looter Shooter?…Ha! More like farming potatoes. Get it? Looter stands for Farming loot that you don’t get, and Shooter stands for your guns shooting potatoes. Farming Potatoes. Beyond laughable!

6 RepliesNever had a problem levelling. I don't understand how players don't know how to level effectively. You can bypass 99 percent of rng by not being stupid
-
1 ReplyBruh. I took me 3 weeks to max out on pinnacles. "Months" is bullshit. I got like 15 drops of random -blam!- when all I needed was boots on my Warlock and still maxed him out by the 3rd week. Before you say I have no life, you too can max if you were spending your time doing only pinnacles cause once you are max you can do all the other stuff next.
-
9 RepliesThst would reduce your gameplay time and also give you an actual feeling of satisfaction, because the time you spend grinding was rewarded. That is a no no for Bungei, so...it will never happen.

1 ReplyPinnacle grind is ridiculously easy right now. So ridiculously easy that I agree with the actual point you are making, in that it isn't needed. So, although we have opposite viewpoints on the pinnacle grind, it looks like we have the same opinion on it. IMO, GM Nightfalls should require level cap, and that's it. You can achieve level cap by either being at level cap or by also having you artifact help you. Master raids/dungeons are the only things really affected by power level, and they should always be set at 25 above level cap. Always possible, but made easier by grinding your artifact level, which should be a little easier to get to +25. Power level increases should only occur once per year with major expansions, not seasons. Getting higher level gear and then, finally, pinnacles is much more engaging if it is with a major content release and only needed to be grinded (ground?) once per year. Then, you are at level for the rest of the year until the next expansion, except for master content.

1 ReplyThe pinnacle grind can be the most frustrating part of playing D2 when you don’t get the drops you need. When you do get the drops, it’s good times had by all. Focussing pinnacle engrams is definitely something I’d like to see implemented for sure. Wouldn’t hurt anything.

5 Replies2 of my Pinnacle Drops this week were for the same armour pieces already at that level… for me, 2 wasted activities!
-
2 RepliesEveryone except for the streamers and devs agrees with you. I believe thats about 99% of those invested in this game that agree. I am so happy I finally got my last piece (helmet) on my Titan. Warlock is no where near done but doesnt matter cause now I have weapons at max.
-
better if bonus light was just the artifact so you could wear what you want with all your characters at all times, which i guess its what they might be doing with the next exp.... but it is frustrating, it doesn't reward any play style for anyone this way
-
I would be fine if they simply gave a choice between weapon and armor.

1 ReplyWaiting 2 week and 3 day for my titans 1580 class item. I am sure there is lots of guardians suffering like me with the same randomness ilness. Only one season left after this season...Fingercross bungie is going to make a better leveling system in lightfall as they promise.
-
Bungie says focus good try focus on chores and homework. Work hard and focus. Bungie message approved.
-
We need this, it could fix several issues stemming from the pinnacle grind.
-
It’s kinda stupid, why are we weaker at the start of a season than we were at the end of the previous one Worst leveling system I’ve ever seen
-
4 RepliesWe know they never will but tonight is the first time in ages that i did my pinnacles and after not getting the only one i needed to be 1580 i switched the game off and actually feel so pissed off that i cant be arsed to bother.
-
4 RepliesI’ve been on the Destiny forum for about 2 months now and I can say this is one of the worst, laziest, uninformed, toxic and cry baby player bases I’ve ever seen. All my characters are 1580 it doesn’t take long. There’s no reason to get “locked” out of content.

Good news, I've heard (think it was the mercules interview but most definitely from a dev) they are reworking the whole power system next year, they'll probably have it in a twab next season as we get closer to lightfall. I've also heard rumors about them just removing power entirely but never heard anything from an actual dev or community manager, and that's just going to be another salt in the wound type thing for those who deleted their sunset gear if they do.

4 RepliesHmm, I propose dropping pinnacle caps and focusing on artifact power only.
