The current PVP landscape is incredibly stale.
Pulses dominate currently — not because they are overpowered, but because a variety of other options have been neutered, creating a lack of diversity I have not seen in a long time.
Grounded playstyles that lane from long ranges are encouraged, while archetypes and weapons that quite frankly need the extra edge in the air, are now suffering. A lot of archetypes that were already bad are now made worse.
Lightweight bows, 180 handcannons, autos, and even some smg's and sidearms - anything currently that doesn't sport over a 40 in the airborne effectiveness stat feels like it shoots blanks.
I understand it was necessary to alleviate icarus being the only worthwhile mod to equip, but it had some serious ramifications.
Can we have some archetypes with a significant natural bump to AE so that we can safely traverse and use the vertical spaces prevalent in your maps?

1 ReplyYou aren't enjoying the botwalking meta in trials? It's very fun to play against 3 controller hard-scoping snipers. The main problem of pvp is that Bungie balances the meta around casual players, that's why arbalest and Lorentz is still on top, that's why it took them so long to nerf LoW. Who would have fought that nerfing shotguns, quick swapping, quickdraw, air accuracy isn't going to resolve the issue with shotgun apes, because most players are playing brainless. Shotgun+melee is still relevant, they don't care about staying alive, just hold "W" key and prey that your opponent isn't going to expect you. And on top of that Bungie gave them arc titan to make sure they are at least going to trade with you. It was so easy to counter this playstyle before, but now you don't have a lot of options, you can't just jump and kill somebody in mid-air. I'm ok then someone kills me because he had a better aim, but it's very annoying to die against a shotgun ape, because they lack the instinct of self-preservation and just run into you while lagging
