Pinnacles that land in places you don't need them. Or they drop but their light level is lower than the item in that slot
Red border weapon drop rates to unlock patterns are far too low.
This stuff doesn't keep me coming back, it makes me put the game down.
The RNG and grind in this game is out of control and needs to be dialed back.
Play a lot? You should advance faster.
Play a little you should advance slower.
But you should still make progress.
Please increase the drop rate of red border weapons and either make light level progress purely XP based or add drop protection.

It's like the maker of my aircraft giving me an engine start checklist and then making the switches on it do the opposite of what the check list says. They design a complicated progression system designed to get you to higher level content. And then they make that system work against you by weighing the drops to land in the highest slot. The very opposite of what they are for. If my highest slot is a 1580 helmet and I get another one, that's not a pinnacle reward. It's just more of the same. They designed a weapon crafting system. But then they make you have to get red drop weapons to craft a weapon you have already obtained and then they make those drops very rare. Again, taking a simple system and making it more complicated than it needs to be, and making it work against you. Blues are pointless once you hit the soft cap. Instead of making them auto shard into whatever after hitting it, and we had that in D1 so it's possible, they turned pointless blues into a Gunsmith grind. For a weapon on rank up that is most likely lower than your current light level. And therefore pointless unless it's a really good roll. Which it won't be. Another system that comes out of nothing, for nothing. They turned transmog for armour ornaments you have already obtained or even bought as part of the season pass, into yet another grind for materials you should not need, by doing the same activities you have been doing for years, to unlock what you have already obtained. Again, making the system work against you by inventing a system that was not needed for something we have already earned or paid for. There is a principle in aviation called KISS. Keep It Simple Stupid. There is a tendency for people to over complicate things in any situation when the reality is that simplest option is normally the most effective one. Occam's razor is a similar principle applied in medicine. Basically if you hear hooves you should think horses, not zebras. I have seen very experienced guys deal with an emergency in the simulator by delving into checklists and forgetting the first rule which is to fly the aircraft, they are still heads in reading away when I tap them on the shoulder and point out that they forgot to fly the aircraft and we are now part of a mountain. If all these systems are designed by Bungie to make people play more it's having exactly the opposite effect in my book. It makes people feel manipulated and their efforts a waste of time. I have felt that way a lot in recent weeks.
