This would greatly cut down crafting grind especially for raids and dungeons which typically only give 1-2 deepsights per week.
Bungie really should consider this if they continue to retroactively make older weapons craftable. (Look at you DOE)
Not too mention the RNG and race to unlock seasonal blueprints. I mean just last week I finally finished all season of the haunted blue prints as RNG was heavily against me.

Spot on. Have said the same for years. I love the game since day 1 D1, but I have a job (teacher) and a family. It’s as if they calibrate the drop rates as if everyone is a game dev, professional streamer or has nothing better to do with their week. I ground out DoE on legend last week for FOUR HOURS. Legend, 300k, platinum champions and lots of bonus rounds completed- and NOT A ONE- not a single red box drop. Most adult players who like to feed their families simply cannot afford to be playing for 4 hours a day all week and get a single red box if they’re lucky. It’s BS. Another issue I’ve had is that I missed most of the last third of last season due to serious illness- and now there’s no way to earn even one Figment of Darkness… which means I can’t finish the last upgrade to the Crown, which means I can’t earn the season seal and Reaper title… That’s somewhat stupid and Bungle really need to start thinking about the fact that the majority of their adult community in Destiny can’t be sat at the game all day every day like they are- life happens- and locking them out of contact they’ve paid for because we have lives to deal with is simply out of order.

7 RepliesI think the problem people fail to get is that the current system requires total dedication to certain events if you want to get it done this century, and even once you get the blueprint it requires total dedication to a weapon that sure you want, but, might not be the best weapon for the season. There is a line between "balanced grind" and "too much grind that's ruining the game". It is not a thin line, it leaves lots of room for error. Destiny has crossed the line into too much grind a long time ago, it's to the point it actively interferes with people spending time with their family, taking care of responsibilities, etc. There is such a thing as responsible development. If your game cycle demands total dedication, your game cycle is wrong. In any other industry grinding is a sign that something is terribly wrong, for bungie it's proof things are just fine. 9.9

I'm able to craft two raid weapons and one seasonal weapon. Which doesn't make a lot of sense.
-
1 ReplySuccess is measured in hours played. Sadly bungle wants/needs the grinding Biggest rule. We (player base) do not need every craft-able weapon. Most of the time you get what you want 3/5 to 5/5 with RNG. It’s only a mechanism to play more often and longer. I don’t need snipers even thought I have beloved and thoughless crafted in my vault just sitting there because RNG gave me solid roles that fit my play style/need. The gun pool is wide and deep. Don’t waste your time going for everything. Play the game to enjoy and not for a perfect craftable when most weapons are good enough

3 RepliesI think weapon crafting in general is designed to scratch the itch that is the “grind”. I can say it is working as intended after yesterday and the quest for the 5th sidearm. I never want to see a master ketch again! Now the grindfest continues to level it up. The payoff…GODROLL. Shouldn’t be easy, so again…working as intended.

1 ReplyIt's a bit much. Some sort of bad luck protection instead/as well would probably help. I think I got like 9 Brigand's Law deepsight before unlocking any other patterns from this season and it Feels Bad.
-
I would do away with the current deepsight grind with one simple change - any time you get a craftable weapon, you gain progress towards its blueprint. And keeping with the current 5 deepsight model, a deepsight version of the weapon would earn you 20% progression. However, every time you earned and broke down a regular version of the weapon, you get 5% towards the blueprint. That way if luck TRULY isn't with you, and you get no deepsights of the weapon you want, you can still make progress.
-
Yeah, 5 is a bit much for each craftable weapon. It’d be nice if it was 3, I played the hell outta the last season’s containment thing and only got enough red borders to craft the shotgun, everything else I got 2 or 3 of. (And it sucks cause I want the glaive but that activity is more than likely dead)
-
They knew this. They new it would take forever. That’s why they did it
-
1 ReplyFacts. This game is getting exhausting coming across all the ridiculous amount of bull quest steps we have to do. This game is becoming more punishment chi big rather than fun. Who tf wants deploying 20 crew mates as part of a seasonal challenge or quest step
-
I agree, i still have yet to craft mini tool or tears of contrition due to the fact that ive opened about 30 red border beloveds, focusing exists but it shouldn’t take 5 weeks to unlock a weapon due to the fact that rng is just bad

I just keep getting the two weapons that I already have done. Every red border drop is a shotgun or the smg for me. Those are the only two that I have unlocked this season. (And still have only one firefright, although admittedly, I stopped playing that mode & focusing the red borders…)
-
I agree. At first I thought 3 might be too few, but then I remembered the materials and time going into leveling and selecting perks on a weapon.
-
2 RepliesBump, 5 is ridiculous with the nonexistent drop rates
-
12 RepliesThe grind is ridiculous - get the blueprints -> use the weapon to extract the pattern -> do that 5 times -> then once you get the pattern use the crafted weapon to level it up. It’s stupid. This game was never about leveling weapons and grinding patterns before Bungie greed 🤑 got the best of them. How many stories can be told about this universe? Yet, we get stuck with rehashed seasonal mumbo-jumbo and endless grind activities. Literally doing the same thing over and over and over again, just for a chance to get a redbox weapon. Then you have to do it again, and again, and again, and again just to get another. I played the last seasons activity quite a bit and never once got a redboxed Drang, Beloved, or Mini Tool. So to make the grind even longer - you can only purchase ONE of those per week per account! Because Bungie being Bungie.
-
2 RepliesAlso totally absurd that you can continue to get red borders of the weapons you’ve already unlocked. 25 keys turned in since I unlocked the pattern for the arc sword and I’ve gotten three red border arc swords. Absolutely painful.
-
1 Reply…Because the relief of FINALLY unlocking the weapon is totally offset by the absolutely gigantic grind of then levelling the weapon up. Finally get 5 red borders THEN the grind starts.
-
Still confused on the deep sight stuff
-
If they would only increase the amount of resources you get from leveling up red border weapons that would be something. I like to make duplicates of my favorites to avoid spamming DIM.
-
Agreed

As much as I would like this change, crafting isn’t supposed to replace weapon drops. We act like none of the other drops matter until you get that last deepsight. Bungie’s using deepsights in raids as a form of bad luck protection. You play and play and eventually you get the rolls you’re looking for or you unlock the ability to invest in the weapon and craft it how you’d like. It’s long, and annoying. But it’s at the same time understandable and in line with Bungie’s stated philosophy on crafting. If it’s really that bad, one king’s fall run per week is all you need to get the 2 guaranteed deepsights. That’s all you honestly need to do to get the craftable rolls.
-
6 RepliesNo there has to be some grind
-
Nah I disagree crafted weapons aren’t meant to replace random rolled weapons. They’re not supposed to be easy to get.
-
Technically it should only be 1 deepsight. Just like our military, when they find a downed UFO, that’s all they need to reverse engineer it. Should only take 1 to reverse engineer, I mean it’s only a weapon
-
And also when you get the blueprint it is pain in the (p)-blam!- to level up the gun with worst perk combination
