Hand cannon recoil has been glitched for years, but not everyone has it.

been doing some testing in crucible today with a friend, and we were testing hand cannon behavior, because I have long suspected that they have been glitched for me for a very long time. After testing, I can indeed confirm, they are still glitched. 140 hand cannons specifically. using identical crafted austringers, and being on the same platform and using the same controllers, his hand cannons reset to neutral faster than mine, by nearly a full second. My hand cannon had significantly more muzzle rise, took way longer to reset, and was still well above the previous point of impact when the crosshairs finished resetting. you can see this because when you fire a hand cannon while aiming down sights, you have a dot between two arcs, and these arcs change color or brightness when you shoot, returning to their previous state once the aim assist and accuracy cones have completely finished resetting. for my friend, using an identical hand cannon and identical hardware, this happens a little bit above the previous shot as well, but the distance on the wall between his shots are less than half the distance of mine. What I have been experiencing is too significant to be caused only by the screen shake that all controllers have. it's as if in addition to the screen shake, the recoil of my weapon is also moving my camera up slightly on every shot. this sounds super similar to a glitch that I remember going around for M&K players on PC with 150RPM Hand Cannons back in year 1, and a little bit in year 2. I remember it being patched out a long time ago, long before 150s were merged into the adaptive archetype. Bungie, I don't know how many other people are experiencing this glitch, or if they even notice, but it has made using a hand cannon in crucible insanely difficult for several years now. I used to love using 140 hand cannons, but for these last few years, it has felt like I'm handicapping myself each time I try to do so. I'd really appreciate some investigation into this, because hand cannons, and especially 140s, are like, the definitive Destiny thing, you know? And it seems super unfair that I have to deal with this even when someone using an identical weapon and identical hardware does not, because the ease-of-use on these weapons is massively affected by this glitch. Thanks, and please keep making Destiny. the game is amazing, and has been for ages.

  • I’ve never experienced that nor ever heard of a recoil bug on hand cannons. The comparison between you and your friend actually sounds like your friend is using a antirecoil mod lol.
