Let the Witness (if as a raid encounter) not die from being blown up, not be imploded, or any means of death when defeated. Instead, give the Witness something different.
Last night, I went to bed drunk after playing some Destiny 2 and had a dream I was doing what looked like a raid encounter of the Witness and saw when I fired my last shot, the Witness stood in defeat. The Witness said nothing and looked onwards at my Guardian, turned away, and sat onto a chair facing away. It looked forward away from the Guardian and slowly tilted its eyes downwards. The Witness then had light appear before it and had itself completely devoured by light that engulfed the entire screen, then ended up leaving the screen to slowly dim into darkness.
There was no explosion. There was booms or showering of glimmer. There was no alien being shot into space. It was a being that had been defeated, whether or not it had planned to return after it had been defeated after careful thinking. Let the Witness have something different. Death doesn’t always have to be the end of what lays in defeat, sometimes it could just be the feeling of defeat itself and realizing that it was not strong nothing to influence others to follow behind it. Otherwise, it just follows the same premeditated defeat of previous raid encounters with no change.
