This topic is just part of my thoughts on the situation of exams based on low player numbers and less rewarding gameplay. As I mentioned above. I see what is happening in the lower tier overall. Gatekeeping is a serious balancing issue caused by players mercilessly exploiting low skill players. We all know that feeling and let's face it, everyone would love to step on bugs. But is it okay to allow that to happen? So my question is, how long do we want to remember that it gets worse with every season? And how long does it take for the gearbox to move in this direction?
So yeah, thats it. Please be nice :)

8 RepliesKeeping the player base healthy should be a top priority. Rewarding the best should also be a top priority. Bungie compromised with the pinnacle (win x amount of rounds and you get a piece of trials loot) and the rank up packages (earn x amount and you get trials loot). Going in from match to match still feels unrewarding. Sweats love it supposedly…incentivizes getting better or something. Contrary to unpopular belief, sweats don’t want to face sweats. They want to run over the other team as fast as possible so they can get to the lighthouse. But here’s what happens. The bottom tier of players stop playing (no point, they can’t win rounds and losing to rank up takes too long, they leave). The second from bottom is now the bottom tier. How long till they leave? The third from bottom tier is up now. Soon, you’re left with a playlist filled with only the top 1 percenters, streamers, recovs, and cheaters. Every match is a sweatfest and it’s likely you’ll match with the same people throughout an entire afternoon. This is not a made up concept. This is the story of trials of the nine and how it died. So how do you keep the playerbase healthy? The sweats need casuals to run over. The casuals need incentive to stay in the playlist. My idea is end of match rewards equivalent to iron banner. Might be crucible gear and might be trials gear, but every match should have a chance to get something and keep that player shrugging off a losing streak. Non-adept loot and a non-flawless armor set can drop here while an adept armor set and adept loot stays locked behind the flawless lighthouse chest. Furthermore, 7 wins regardless of loss allows you to goto the lighthouse. A small chest at the foot of the stairs opens and you get normal loot but a barrier keeps you from heading up to and opening the flawless chest next to saint, giving incentive to stay in long enough for your lighthouse visit at 7 wins and incentive to get good enough to go where only flawless players can go. Boom. Casuals have reason to be in the trials playlist. Sweats have a healthy playerbase and retain the best gear. Best of both worlds.
