This topic is just part of my thoughts on the situation of exams based on low player numbers and less rewarding gameplay. As I mentioned above. I see what is happening in the lower tier overall. Gatekeeping is a serious balancing issue caused by players mercilessly exploiting low skill players. We all know that feeling and let's face it, everyone would love to step on bugs. But is it okay to allow that to happen? So my question is, how long do we want to remember that it gets worse with every season? And how long does it take for the gearbox to move in this direction?
So yeah, thats it. Please be nice :)

I had a look at your recent Trials matches, you are consistently under 1 kd. You cannot expect to do well in Trials with a kda like that? I have seen solo players with high kda's do well on off Freelance weekends, why? Because of there pvp abilities.

Emblem - Flawless Empyrean: Tracks how many LightHouse Games one Broke. There's literally a Role for such a purpose. It glows Red. These players run this to show they will try to block you from going Flawless. Just like the Blue is a sign to carry. The only actually" gatekeeping " by your idea is actually yourself. You are gatekeeping yourself. Expecting to have Free Flawless is absurd. Get Good: meaning find your own way to improve.

Your low skill is what’s “gatekeeping” you from success in Trials. I don’t know why you kids think you’re entitled to a Flawess run.

As someone who's also not great at trials (I find it to be too slow paced, I get impatient then eventually push blindly), just wait until either freelance or the last day of the week when the flawless pool is active, that way you verse other bad players and have a better chance, but also keep in mind, adept weapons aren't even better than regular weapons so it's not worth pulling your hair out trying to get flawless, just keep your 7 win card for rank points and better post game rewards -
1 ReplyI have to apologize in advance, but Trials was never intended for casuals. It's a sweaty, hardcore game play that only a single digit percentage of players have the skill to accomplish, and there is nothing wrong with that. It makes the rewards that much more valuable. There's nothing wrong with average to subpar players jumping into Trials, but they have to expect to be nothing more than cannon fodder. I refuse to hop in unless I have friends, or friends of friends willing to carry me since I suck as an individual, but decent when I can team shoot. There is no balancing in PvP - otherwise other PvP games dating back to Counterstrike would have made a killing implementing it. SBMM, CBMM - none of it works. SBMM can easily be manipulated by having your worst player as the fireteam lead, and CBMM doesn't differentiate skill level...so you either play the cards your dealt, or you walk away from the table. Basically, if I don't have the talent to play a game mode, I can either improve, play with people who help or can make me better, or not play it at all.

I hunt “one win reset” gatekeepers. So do a lot of players I play with. It’s a shame that people do this to just farm stats that don’t amount to anything really when they’re pinned against players on their skill level. I played against some of those guys earlier, and I thrashed them around on a 1v3🤦🏽♂️. It’s literally pointless doing that! I’d take my flaw card anytime instead of resetting again and again.

You need to get good to beat good players. They're not 'gatekeepers'.

I want flawless as well but I can't complain about gatekeepers or that it's hard when it's the pinnacle mode. Low skill players have to go in with a realistic mindset and honestly ask if it's flawless they want or inclusion. Flawless if you do the work is obtainable albeit difficult, Inclusion degrades the mode and creates unnecessary power creep just like it did when they started handing out pinnacles. Trials is not intended to be inclusive or easy, it's supposed to be a trial.

Edited by Kiro - 13: 9/17/2022 8:03:24 PMThis is what streamers, content creators, and good player foretold like some sort of prophecy when SBMM was implemented. Come IB and trials you casuals will be in for a world of hurt. Thank you for fulfilling that prophecy.

1 Replyat what point will these people realize their lower skill is the only gatekeeper?

Destiny pvp trail gate keepers are very pathetic and hate change 🤷

8 RepliesKeeping the player base healthy should be a top priority. Rewarding the best should also be a top priority. Bungie compromised with the pinnacle (win x amount of rounds and you get a piece of trials loot) and the rank up packages (earn x amount and you get trials loot). Going in from match to match still feels unrewarding. Sweats love it supposedly…incentivizes getting better or something. Contrary to unpopular belief, sweats don’t want to face sweats. They want to run over the other team as fast as possible so they can get to the lighthouse. But here’s what happens. The bottom tier of players stop playing (no point, they can’t win rounds and losing to rank up takes too long, they leave). The second from bottom is now the bottom tier. How long till they leave? The third from bottom tier is up now. Soon, you’re left with a playlist filled with only the top 1 percenters, streamers, recovs, and cheaters. Every match is a sweatfest and it’s likely you’ll match with the same people throughout an entire afternoon. This is not a made up concept. This is the story of trials of the nine and how it died. So how do you keep the playerbase healthy? The sweats need casuals to run over. The casuals need incentive to stay in the playlist. My idea is end of match rewards equivalent to iron banner. Might be crucible gear and might be trials gear, but every match should have a chance to get something and keep that player shrugging off a losing streak. Non-adept loot and a non-flawless armor set can drop here while an adept armor set and adept loot stays locked behind the flawless lighthouse chest. Furthermore, 7 wins regardless of loss allows you to goto the lighthouse. A small chest at the foot of the stairs opens and you get normal loot but a barrier keeps you from heading up to and opening the flawless chest next to saint, giving incentive to stay in long enough for your lighthouse visit at 7 wins and incentive to get good enough to go where only flawless players can go. Boom. Casuals have reason to be in the trials playlist. Sweats have a healthy playerbase and retain the best gear. Best of both worlds.

You get flawless or you don't. I just accepted I was not good enough in destiny 1 and 2 and with improvement I was able to snag a few flawless runs Honest opinion. Anyone can enter and allow you to earn flawless gear. There is no requirement. Just like irl sports. Participation doesn't equal you should win. No one should be isolated and contained like a disease in trials because they are good. The problem is that the supposed sweats are all in trials because comp got its reward stripped due to massive complaints from the casual community. Not to badmouth them because this is entirely on bungie. Was luna's howl and NF broken together with MT and recluse? Honestly yeah. But this motivated bungie to stop locking things behind comp. Because of the massive complaints. All in all, most sweats inhabit the Playlist because comp gives nothing on the weekends My take on it. If you agree or not is up to you✌️

All I can say is it sucks to suck. The Playlist was made with the intention for players to compete for above average loot and bragging rights. A decent team of players even have a chance at it. As of right now I have a God roll of almost every adept weapon and the current new weapons do not interest me at all.
