Trying to link my PlayStation account to my Steam account, but in order to continue it also wants me to authenticate my Xbox account that I haven't used in almost 10 years. I switched to PS4 Destiny from Xbox 360 and linked it, but the 360 account hasn't been active and every account I try results in an error code.
I've read the policies about Bungie not being able to remove accounts. How do you expect your players to link accounts if it requires authentication of all accounts if an old account no longer exists or you have the right credentials and there is an error code? I think this is a terrible policy and players should be allowed to opt to remove any linked accounts without signing into it because if we want to turn off Cross Save we need to authenticate ALL the accounts, but if we can't authenticate them then we can't turn off Cross Save. How does that logic work? This is like keeping a fire exit door closed off, how do you expect us to get out if we're given the option to, but we aren't able to?
I would really like a response from a Bungie staff because I want to get back into this game, but don't want to make brand new characters on Steam

Bungie doesn't store our login information for any account. For security reasons they require us to authenticate the accounts associated with cross save. Sorry man. If you can get into that account or Microsoft can't help then there is nothing that can be done.
