Week 1 of Asking for a Chaos Reach Buff

Hey y'all, Decided to start posting ideas for buffing Chaos Reach every week until Bungie tweaks Chaos Reach (+ Geomags) or says they're not going to, for my own amusement. Let's see how long this lasts until I crack. Week 1 Idea: Pretty basic for the first time around. Just buff the damage significantly (~30% maybe) and restore some of its ability to save ability energy between casts outside of Crucible. Have a great week, maybe see ya next TWAB

  • Chaos reach is still great. Very good signal target damage (top 5 with geomags I think) and can even move around and hit multiple targets so has add clear potential. Can also be cast a range and doesn’t require crits. Due to its utility and ease of use, I don’t think it should be compared to the single target dps supers and that’s what people who think it needs a buff compare it to.

    • Also change Electrostatic Mind, that aspect is very bad. Doesn’t give anything different from what you can gain from fragments and weapon perks.

      • How many times do we need to say it? [spoiler]WARLOCK IS NOT THE DAMAGE CLASS! Learn to make sacrifices in your gameplay, if you want the insane neutral game and ability up time that warlock has then of course the super is gonna be weaker[/spoiler]

          • 30% is way too much. That would make it outdamage star eaters blade barrage . Just rework the super to apply jolt to enemies and by itself work like geomags chaos reach. That adds damage and clears adds next to the boss you hit. And make geomags give super energy on arc trace pickups and add anti barrier and overload to the super.

                What people don't get is Coas Reach is [b]horrible[/b] because the time versus the damage is off. In the time I do a choas reach I could have done over 700k with Stormchaser shots instead, and Choas Reach does less than that on the same raid boss for the long time you are standing there with your -blam!- in your hand. Look at Blade Barrage, Nova Bomb or Thundercash, instantly drops anywhere from -blam!--900k (900k with Star Eaters). Choas Reach drops 400k at best in the long time you are standing there aiming it and missing out on real damage from another super or Taipan or Stormchaser etc. And this is with Geomags. Without Geomags it is crap. Supers shouldn't NEED an exotic to be less than decent. The damage should at least match Blade Barrage, even though one is instant, and one can take up to 10 seconds with Geomags. If not, Choas Reach should be the most damage in the game, for the fact it takes the most time out of you using something else for damage. And before you think, "well Stormchaser is worse!" Or others. Stormchaser, Novawarp, Spectral Blades, Hammers, etc are roaming supers not meant for dps. They are for roaming around killing people in PVP. Choas Reach is a boss dps, nonuseful in PVP super. Time it acts like it.

                    Its a shame that certain aspects of classes are rendered useless in this game. If this was Warframe, you could do anything with Chaos Reach and be fine. Bungo could learn a thing or a thousand from that game eh?

                      • The only way to make chaos reach viable compared to other arc supers is by making it an instant cast instead of channeled, damage buffs won’t work.

                            • Yeah base Chaos Reach desperately needs a buff. It feels like garbage when I can pop almost any other super that DOESN'T need to be channelled for 5+ seconds and do the same or more damage. Gathering Storm, Blade Barrage, Thundercrash, Nova Bomb... all better by far than Chaos Reach.

                            • Use your subclass choices and artefact wisely and you can increase its damage by a ton. If it were buffed any more, you'd be solo killing GM bosses with acute arc burn on.
