Greetings,
I don't have a lot of time to do the King's Fall Raid completely for all three of my characters. If I were to just defeat Oryx, would I have a chance at obtaining Touch of Malice? Do I need to complete the entire raid in order to get the chance of getting Touch of Malice to drop?
Thank you

1 ReplyAs any raid in game. You can start from checkpoint and defeat only Oryx. But your drop chances of exotic will be very low. It's better to run full fresh raid.

4 RepliesHello everyone, I am glad that this thread has received all of your responses. I now have Touch of Malice. I did not do the entire entire raid. I joined a team at the Oryx checkpoint. We beat Oryx in two attempts. The first attempt, we did everything correctly but wiped once it came to the "Last Stand." Everyone forgot to get the second blight that the ogres dropped. We killed Oryx on our second attempt. We did the two blight method during last stand. We killed Oryx. The chest spit out a legendary engram and then an exotic engram. It was my first run of the week on my hunter.

Edited by BOSSNONO254: 9/19/2022 11:06:03 AMI’m not sure how the RNG works, but I got it on my third run. And I only ever play on one character. But I run through the entire raid. I’ve gotten the Vow exotic on my 6th run, Vex on my 1st, and Eyes of Tomorrow on my 22nd DSC run. But each of those raids I ran through completely before receiving the exotics. So I’m not sure if that increases your chances of receiving them or not. Only Bungie actually knows how the numbers work. But I’d say in my experience, definitely run the entire raid on all three characters during each reset. Then when it’s a specific raid in rotation for pinnacle, just run the final boss again and again to weigh out your odds.

you need only oryx kill for a % of drop

Oryx is the only encounter that drops Touch of Malice. If you wanted, you could farm just that last encounter on all 3 characters and make it easier to get the weapon. Tbh, though, i'd still want to run through the raid anyway simply because loot is always good.

You can just do 3 oryx clears a week.

16 RepliesOnly oryx is needed… However farming bosses is something bungie actively works against. Seen those posts with hundreds of clears and no vex? Those people are farming the checkpoint. Yes it will drop, but you could be doing it for a long time.

4 RepliesEdited by Shoto Todoroki: 9/17/2022 1:02:33 AMYou just need Oryx, but I've heard that Bungie seems to drop the RNG rate (and rightfully so) because it defeats the purpose of doing the raid. If you're just looking for the weapon, like other's have said, it's not a end all be all, and it won't really help casual game players

As stated below you only need to kill oryx that’s it

I wish it was tied to completing the raid with certain conditions because rng is a -blam!- in this game, but just oryx can net you the touch.

You only need oryx but it's better to just do the entire raid, you get like 4 or 5 pinnacle drops (which will probably be duplicates lol) and some bonus chests
-
with all rng raid exotics all you need is a looted clear of the final boss. That will only apply once per week per character though, even if the raid is farmable otherwise.
