Neither are bad, and each have their pros and cons, but you gotta admit consecration is probably just better.
Tempest Strike:
Pros- Faster animation, using combination blow makes the cooldown low, since it's on arc it can makes you amplified, proccing jolt, allowing for ionic traces.
vs.
Consecration
Pros- Does more damage, probably does more aoe because of the ignitions compared to jolting, but both are probably pretty close, ignitions are usually more valuable than jolt because of the damage and all the ignition-centric solar fragments.
Tempest strike can't really make good use of exotics like consecration can with synthos, HOIL, and probably other things. The only thing that comes to mind is assassin's cowl, which is cool, but there's not much else, unless I'm just forgetting. I would really want a tempest strike-focused exotic at some point.
I honestly don't know how you could better tempest strike. Also, like I said, it's not bad, it's just not as cool and destructive as consecration, and they're really similar in terms of style, the slide melee where you send out a wave of energy.
Since you can run combination blow to get a quicker cooldown on tempest strike(albeit not much, the cooldown is reduced compared to disorienting blow, however the cooldown is increased by the fact that you are using tempest strike, which intrinsically has a longer cooldown than the other melees, sort of like renewal grasps), you could make the argument in favor of tempest strike, but with how quick dodges come back and with how valuable gambler's dodge is, there's not much point in focusing on reducing the melee cooldown via the strength stat. Plus, mods like heavy handed and well mods work on both, and sort of negate a lot of the cooldown anyway, and HOIL can reduce the cooldown of your titan melee substantially.
I main hunter 100% I'll admit, but I have played a bit of titan and warlock, both being really fun, and I haven't given up on them, I still keep them around powerful cap and make builds for them so I know how they work, plus I've seen builds circulating that look really fun.
I like using tempest strike, but I really get jealous any time I see consecration, which is probably why I made this post. But yeah. Please make a tempest strike exotic. Something broken like a dead messenger-like wave with blinding or something cool. Obviously not too broken. If it's ever gonna be made.

2 RepliesTempest strike is no longer on combination blow cooldown. Look on the aspect. Its on THE LONGEST ability cooldown now. Longer than glacier nade and flux nade.
