Buildcrafting is one of the great experiences on Destiny, but with so many (de)buffs happenig at the same time, the screen showing only 4, and we not having a properly place to test it, it becomes a huge mess
tldr may the game help us to test builds and tracking all the buffs happening at the same time
If I make a single bonk, I got on screen: Roaring Flames, Sol Invictus, Cure, Radiant (and then Restoration, Charged With Light... if I'm using Synthoceps, there is Biotic Enhancements, and while wandering around Throne World we got Deepsight all the time these days)... but even those definitions are vage, leading to tests of the community, long posts on Reddit, tons of clickbaiting videos on YouTube, and endless spreadsheats. I know Bungie says to prefer to not show the numbers because it's easier to adjust them (nerf and buff) behind the curtains.
(In the meantime, Cure, Restoration and Recovery are all different things, but similar in some way. How does each one work? Where does one end and the other remains? Wich one of them can I extent with Fragments or Mods? "Ember of Tempering: Solar weapon final blows grant recovery for a shot duration. Stacks 3 times". I guess it's about the Recovery on Character Stat? If I have 70 on Recovery, a 3 stack corresponds to 100 Recovery? I have no idea. Also, the fragment itself lowers the Recovery base in 10, so I should be 80 to get 70 and, finally, 100).
It is such a WASTE OF TIME to have to search on the internet or to test to know that Ember of Solace adds +2 seconds on Radiant and Restoration, when this information could be just on screen, while selecting the subclass and it's fragments/aspects. There are too much variables happening at the same time and testing turns out to become imprecise and unreliable.
(Since we are here, the screen of subclass is very unpleasant because we can not have all the fragments in one place. We must click on the arrow on the submenu to see the ONE LAST FRAGMENT!).
Also, how do I test fragments like Ember of Eruption (solar ignitions have increased AoE), Ember of Ashes (you apply more scorch: yeah, but how many? The game doesn't even say - in game, I should not rely on patch notes to see it - the base of applied scorch, wich was recently nerfed). We should be able to know how the fragments, mods and perks synergizes with each other, how do they stacks, and how they actually work in game.
From time to time we see players complaining about Destiny not being easy to any New Light. Yeah, buildcrafting can be hard even for veterans.
From the above, please consider to have a look at User Interface and User Experience. The new icons of buffs and debuffs are a nice touch. But all the numbers and combinations need an urgent revamp.
Finally, we desperately need a place to run tests, not only a firing line to try weapons, but some way to environment control. For example, if I wanna test what is the number of stacking on Synthoceps + Roaring Flames + Consecration (since they all rely on melee), we could have one place to add (and remove) enemies, may they attack us or not, may they be a red bar or a boss. And then do the damage we want. This way, we can compare the number with and without Syntroceps; with and without Roaring Flames; and how do they stack, scorches and ignites enemies. The easiest way to do this now is resetting all the time a short Lost Sector.
Poor Carl on Nessus need a break.
(and as always, SLAP THAT BUT-English is not my first language, sorry on prepositions and conjugations)
