In lightfall reveal bungie mentions that the cloudstriders have been dealing with a vex problem. Will this be like beyond light where the vex have 0 story significance and are just there to be there.

4 RepliesHonestly i think the Vex are deliberately letting stuff play out in the Sol System. They can't beat the Darkness, so they're letting us do it for them. That's probably why they gave us the Vex Mythoclast. A Vex weapon designed for humans for some reason.

1 ReplyEdited by The icon of sin: 9/17/2022 9:07:59 PMI think they wont be a big deal until after the light and dark saga. They lack big name enemies from a lore stand point, the only one was reduced to a weak storyboss(blade transformed). (I dont count penophtis) Like most of the big named vex you dont hear about until its there right infront of you(think atheon and other raid bosses) They could bring in the planet size minds into play, that would be intersting. Make em a location. Really blow our minds of the vex can do. Edit: i think it was calus that mentioned that the vex we are fighting are just essentially "the farmers, builders just labour forces".

11 RepliesThe problem with the Vex is that they are a collective intelligence, and their motives are beyond our comprehension. Its hard to build engaging content around an enemy faction that doesn't have strong, individual personalities ( Ghaul, Uldren, Oryx, The Fanatic, Eramis, Savathun, etc ), and also lacks a clearcut objective ( they want to create a future where they win, but why? What is the long term goal? What is the benefit to them? ). So yes, for now, they are just pests. The Vex show up, do Vex stuff, we kill them, end of story. And until Bungie can come up with a better narrative for them, they'll just remain as pests.

8 RepliesI mean. That’s literally all they’ve ever really been written as. Bungie has yet to really make them a real force to be reckoned with.

That literally what they have always been. They are an invasive species and oldest lifeforms in the universe. -
Its rather ominous that they haven't been around much lately.

11 RepliesProbably. I'd love to see the warrior vex units. That would be an awesome encounter.

In lightfall reveal bungie mentions that the cloudstriders have been dealing with a vex problem. Will this be like beyond light where the vex have 0 story significance and are just there to be there.
Considering they will probably be the next big threat after final shape i think its okay. It seems all but said that they will be the next threat as unlike any of the other races they originate from the black garden as well and have a presence there. Not only that they dont care about Light or the Darkness, in Curse of Osiris we saw a vex future where the universe had no Light or Darkness left in it. The vex were able to predict that and its a scary thought because the only way it could be predicted is if they could pull it off. We have only seen the work force of the Vex, some people believe the Wyvern is a combat frame but we dont know for sure. Not once has the Vex decided to deploy a combat frame, imagine what one would look like when something like Atheon or Argos aren’t even combat frames. Ultimately they show to be the biggest threat considering they found a way to make the universe no longer have Light or Darkness

5 RepliesI think Bungie will delve into the vex after the light vs dark saga ends. There'll be more room to explore them then

7 RepliesTypical, aimless Bungie storytelling, unfortunately... In D1 the Vex were 'The Big Bad', with the main track of the story ending with you foiling an incursion where the ultimate plan was unknown. They then had a Vex themed raid and forgot about them for another three years, at which point they became the subject of short-term memory loss at least once a season. Bungie storytelling is like a game of 'Consequences', with each new person writing their new bit without having a clue where the previous person was going with the story and not caring where they're going with it either because they'll be palming it off to somebody else soon. Just like 'The Stranger', who didn't have time to explain why she didn't have time to explain... and then didn't explain when she did have time to explain! You could write better lore by putting a dictionary through a shredder, throwing the pieces up in the air and seeing how they fall...

Edited by SauerKrautSoup: 9/15/2022 10:45:15 PMBro, the Vex can just suck it. They’re hella annoying.

They are a “narrative loose end” at the moment.

3 RepliesThere are two problems with the vex: - 1: A lot of their STORY comes from old content. Content that suffers from really bad writing (Vanilla D1, Curse of Osiris) - 2: Since it is so unknowable there is no villain or important character to follow or become invested in. All the Vex-focused characters have either been put aside for now (Asher, Osiris) or have moved to different focus (Mithrax, Exo Stranger) In the next few seasons Bungie needs to set up a compelling Vex-linked character in the story. Either bring back a heavily corrupted Asher or introduce us to something new. Osiris just info-dumping empty platitudes won’t cut it any more. My thought is to make another/new vex mind that finally simulates guardians. Have it be humanoid and actually communicate with us in a pseudo-antagonistic role (Bungie did a good job with Cortana in the old Halos… maybe something like that.) - Heavily corrupted guardian returns - We air lift Clovis Bray’s giant exo head into the helm… - Cortana-like vex mind I still predict that Final Shape could be heavily Vex themed if not Taken or a new Darkness race.

I don’t think The Vex were ever bad. They are no different than The Fallen or Hive or Cabal. I believe they are one of the first lifeforms made by The Gardener and Winnower. And like all other races but Humanity have been corrupted by The Witness. They probably have identical experiences with the Traveler. “It came, we got destroyed, it left. Why Traveler why?!” -
I think after Final shape we will see Vex as our main enemy, because right now there is no point to reveal them
-
Bring back SIVA! Vex SIVA hybrids would be compelling to make them play a larger role in the narrative and reason to revamp their whole identity.
-
Pretty much. They lost their purpose with the og storyline being changed. I mean the cutscene the rolled out showing radiolaria going into the Vex and then massing was originally made back during base D1. Their main problem is they were likely designed to be a big bads puppets. So when they changed the storyline, they lost their purpose. So yeah, this mention is just to remind everyone that they exist and do things. I think they’ll be first up as villains after the Dark and Light saga is over.

I swear, I was thinking that exact same thing last week. Ha. That's why I still hang around here. 🍻

You don’t remember anything to do with the fact that exos only exist because Clovis used vex tech to make them , and the witness succeeded in having him make a vex portal to let the bee through to europa and start creating problems?
-
It’s feels like most of the races have had their asses kicked to the point where they’re broken, the vex I have no idea though because they’re a hive mind
-
Well we have killed basically 5 of their gods and stolen 1 of their gods. And took back saint from them which they already killed 🤣 Its no wonder they are not trying to pick a fight with us.

Who knows what the vex will do now that the vex collective has been reduced to very little. They are weak, and many attacks have been made on them, oh guardian mine… -
2 RepliesI have a feeling that the vex will have a bigger story arch in the next season which will likely feature the exo stranger, ana bray, and rasputin, alongside siva and the vex
