Yes, quitters suck. I have had several games where I get stuck in a loop of dying endlessly and back out to save my sanity.
But penalties for the casual mode won't work well, connections are getting worse and kicking people out, rewards kind of suck, and lobby balancing is some of the worst we have seen as a community. There are inherent problems with the game that drive people to quit early, and this will just push people to not play pvp.
Edit: So to add to the frustration, I just got error coded during the start of a control game, then got a suspension for it (My Internet connection is fine). This is the issue of what happens when they decide to add stupid penalties, if you people can't see this as an issue, you are part of the problem.

Oh but it totally is it. I love it

6 RepliesEdited by Mercureal: 9/16/2022 3:10:01 AMI think alot of people are also defending the quitter penalty acting like quitting a casual playlist shatters their experience. I've played plenty of CoD, Halo, and Battlefield, and outside of Halo ranked playlists, almost no one complains about quitters in any of these games. Sometimes there are real situations that come up and people have to leave, it's not always just someone having a bad game. And even if it was, who cares about a non-competitive PvP match. I would really love to see the data on whether teams where someone quit were actually winning and then lost, because I'm willing to bet that most of the time when people quit, the team was already badly losing and the mercy rule probably wasn't able to kick in. Bungie further exacerbates the issue by tying a Pinnacle to Crucible, meaning that you'll get a spike of players doing their 3 matches and getting out anyways, leaving the actual Crucible players for most of the time. It's very bizarre to me how Bungie has decided that quitting is actually a problem when I would argue it really isn't. Would you rather have someone quit and you get another player, or would you rather have someone basically AFK in your match. I've seen both situations, and I'd rather that people are just encouraged to quit. It's not that deep. Editing to clarify that I'm not even the one quitting. I get my 3 games and get out, I just notice that people still quit with about the same rate as they did before

11 RepliesI think quitter penalties are fine, especially for objective game modes like control.

To be fair the ones quitting probably are the kd padders but also if they tune it ever so slightly to detect if it was by a persons choice or error code/ power going out then it’d be fine Besides it’s nice their doing something about these quitters cause it’s not fun for the team your on if it happens It just needs some tuning and it’ll be fine

RipperWhy are people so damn stupid? - old
Don't que up to play Quickplay if you're just gonna quit. I don't care how casual it is. Who the hell loads up a match with 11 other people just to quit? Like what is wrong with you? -
"Thank you for your feed back" "Now shut up and go buy some EV items with silver" "Don't forget the $100 dollar autorifle by the way" -Bengei, probably.

I get a leaver quitter every game damn near. Yes it sucks bad but it is what it is. The maps suck, the rotation of said bad maps is atrocious, lobby balance still a thing, peer to peer connection, just doesn’t seem fair in a kick back mode. I can understand trials and other endgame stuff but this? Welp maybe the last straw for me. I get banned for joining a game in progress or someone else leaving I’ll prolly remove the game off my system again. Lot of space when that happens lol

they deserve to be punished for quitting multiple games just because they couldn't stomp the other team super easy. They're not giving a debuff to people who leave one game. They're giving it to repeat offenders.
-
if you aren't a quitter there's no downside to it. the people complaining are the quitters who are the problem.

A penalty is needed however Id be happy if the lockout was removed and a negative kd for the bailed match was applied (10 deaths 1 kill). Would sort out some of the liars saying they dont quit to protect their kds. But in all seriousness there needs to be map voting, more maps and better matchmaking

If you want the option to quit, go play Rumble. You won't be ruining anyone else's game there

2 RepliesIn comp I can understand as it does not give you a teammate if one leaves your team. But in control it’s a bad idea, if you have a bad game people teleporting or not taking damage witch happens ALOT with Crossplay!!!! You shouldn’t have to stay and suffer. If people leave your control game and it’s unfair match JUST RELOAD IN ANOTHER GAME. What is so hard? 🤦🏼♂️
