You all
- force us into SBMM so anyone over a 1.3 k/d is forced into lobbies that are unforgiving, laggy, unfun, and full of hostile players who are also unhappy they're forced into ultra meta world championships
- force us into the most unpopular, large, boring maps that don't encourage engagement and instead take more time to traverse from spawn, to the hot zones, only to die from someone far outside of your range who was posted up waiting for you
- force us into staying in these unfun matches on unfun maps by banning us if we quit
I'm not sure anyone working on PvP right now understands the fundamental pain points we are having, my benefit of the doubt is gone
Bungie i'm sorry i have a 1.8 k/d and i'm apparently the problem in pvp for everybody but congrats, problem solved: i quit pvp, this sucks. i hope that was the solution y'all wanted! can't suspend me if i don't play.

2 RepliesBungie: Introduces SBMM (like 99% of shooters) to protect average and low skill players. Community: High skill lobbies are terrible. People keep quitting and It makes bad matches worse. Bungie: fixes the part high skill players dislike that’s not just “go back to CBMM” by adding quitting penalties to reduce the number of people leaving matches. Community: Why do we have penalties for leaving matches? Honestly unless you keep quitting matches over and over it shouldn’t be an issue and is literally working to combat what a lot of high skill players have been complaining about. A better strategy would be to get Bungie to fix their terrible Lobby Balancing algorithm. Maybe a long-term goal of changing how the high skill community treats the game (how frequently people feel they need to sweat) would be good too, but that’s never happened before so I wouldn’t get my hopes up.

1 ReplyDISAGREE FULLY. It is sbmm meaning skill is involved so..., sorry ppl busy with school, busy with babies, busy with anything if you want to play this 8- 10min match make sure you have the 10 mins to actually play it. If not just play a different mode simple... lastly you know why u get larger maps often?, it's intentional cause 6 vs 6 is the biggest game mode so it makes sense to play big maps ?more often 😉 😜 😀 😄. Want to try a new weapon to see if its actually good then its a good thing to face the meta lmao 🤣 😆 sbmm isn't meant to be u destroying ppl with a crap gun 😉 I'm sorry the playlist like rumble which are filled with the same people annoy you but that represents the amount of ppl who want to do everything you want i. Destiny which is leave when you want too & use crap guns in a game with a meta for winning lmao 🤣 it's hilarious how disconnected this guy is to the majority of the community. It's a 8 to 10 min match again u can just play a different mode. If you know u won't have the 8 to 10 mins to see it through..

I played a game of Iron Banner the other day and all of my teammates quit with over 7 minutes left. The opposing team was a five stack with one random and they continued to spawn kill me every time I spawned. It was horrible lol. I even tried to do emotes to lighten the mood but they still killed me every single time. I didn’t quit. It was not fun, not one bit. But my son is eight years old and I always tell him to try to do his best and tell him not to quit. So I won’t quit either even when I’m getting my -blam!- kicked by six people!

This is why we need to a separate comp control.

Edited by The2ndWave: 9/14/2022 7:08:19 PMHere’s a take that I haven’t seen yet. It may or may not happen, but I’ll throw it out there anyway. If SBMM would truly work every time. Those regular quitters who would quit and get penalized are gone for sometime. While they are gone, it will actually improve the game experience a little bit for those who are already enjoying the SBMM mode. So this is a win-win for Bungie and those in the community that enjoys SBMM. Now the only thing that needs addressing are lag/ connection issue, and stacked teaming. Stack teaming could probably be solved by implementing lobby skill balancing. I don’t know how much they’re gonna do this, but since Free PvP mode is not a priority here now, it might not happen. Some of the lag/connection issue may also be attributed to crossplay, which may not be addressed as well since player numbers for this game is dwindling and is not optimal. Other than the that, one complaint of quitters leaving and now getting banned for a few minutes may actually help the experience of the already happy SBMM crowed that is already enjoying the game again. It could be a win-win scenario, for now. One more thing, I see a lot of gamers here threatening to stop playing, quit and leave the game for good because of this new quitter’s penalty. Welp, I guess it’s time for me to say this: This is not the Airport! Bwahahahahahaha! I always wanted to say that but I couldn’t find the opportunity yet. I guess this is a perfect time now.🤣 Wave goodbye guys when you hit the Departure Area of the Forums Airport. Hehe!

2 RepliesKeeps saying "force" but you made the choice to play.

Even they(Bungie) don’t know. It’s just one bad decision after another. A quitter penalty addresses the symptom not the cause. Map weighting, Lobby Balancing are absolutely horrible. Teleporting lag is still very much a thing in certain lobbies. All = a very poor experience and makes leaving an easy decision. Especially when it’s casual play. This was a horrible band aid that will only lead to more 6 stacks. And it still won’t deter me from dipping if I get a laggy as hell lobby or going up against a 6 stack of 2.0’s. I just refuse to sacrifice an optimal experience because there’s a quitter penalty. Maybe FIX the real issues and Ppl won’t leave as much! THIS IS ON BUNGIE. Not the players.

Control quitter penalty for a "casual" mode is a moronic, and I mean heavily moronic move. The devs are so out of touch, they turn on the auto pilot switch and this game does it's own thing for 12 weeks straight. There are so many issues, CVS receipt length issues with pvp, that quitter penalty for control won't fix. I will 100% quit the lobby if someone is using Monarch, can head shot a snipe mid air while everyone cries about how bad AE is, if someone is using 150s from the other side of a different map. Instead of forcing people to stick it out in their sh!tshow modes they should fix the game.

4 RepliesAgreed. I'm very close to quitting!

1 ReplyTo mask their lack of servers, the shitty engine they use and to funnel people into gambit and Their seasonal Pve content. They are legit treating pvp like a crazy -blam!- Significant other in hopes that you abandon pvp all together so they can look up the numbers and justify not spending any bandwidth and ultimately removing it from the game.

Edited by Iron Bannerner: 9/14/2022 3:31:22 PMPlease advise how do I go about refunding my purchase of Lightfall. 2 years ago, I quit the game because of stupid sunsetting of content n weapons. Returned because of Witch Queen. Seen the quality and gotten Lightfall. Now, as a core Control player, I have to live with yet another dumb decision made. What a waste of money on this -blam!- company. Not the game, just the fing decision making process. Once bitten twice shy. There won't be a 3rd time.

5 RepliesFor a casual playlist, having a quieter penalty is the definition of hypocrisy
-
4 RepliesEven casuals are gunna begin to leave now lol 😂 bungie are clowns. They will be banning us for abandoning patrols next.
-
9 RepliesOh no, there's actually consequences to rage quitting now! The horror!

Anyone arguing that SBMM isn’t good just doesn’t understand any of this.. give it a season to grow the population then you will see positive changes. That’s common sense, we need all the players that were fed up to return and for new players not to be scared away. That’s only going to happen with SBMM. New players shouldn’t have to sweat against 2+ kd players. Here’s the bottom line.. all you players who enjoyed pub stomping for years because you boosted stats now have nowhere to hide except behind your teammates. Good luck making 50 kill YouTube videos when you have to face sweats like the rest of us. As far as the quilting penalty goes, you guys started rage quitting to preserve your precious fake stats so Bungie had no choice. I rarely defend them but I have to call a spade a spade. The pvp changes are all necessary, welcome and positive.

3 RepliesWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Oh, my. This is so childish. If you're getting beat like a drum, just endure for just five minutes until the match ends. Savvy? I lose a lot and my KD is absolute garbage. I've never gotten flawless, but I've lost hundreds of rounds of Trials. You're obviously not that good at losing. Clearly there are people who take losses in a more chill manner than you do. A little longsuffering goes a long way, and you should actually think next time before leaving a match. But the point is that you can be way worse of a loser but less bitter. Chill out, bro. Man, kids these days. They barely have any patience.

I'm gonna give y'all some advice with regards to the changes: Don't play Control. There are other playlists that don't use SBMM and don't penalize you for leaving. Bungie follows the numbers. If the playlist population drops, they'll make changes. Maybe even ones that you want. The core issues aren't SBMM or leaving penalties: They're outdated software and poor map rotations. And sadly, I doubt the former will ever be fixed because Bungie is forced to work modern solutions within the parameters of a game that is well past its prime (in terms of software). As for the map issue, giving players agency comes with its own pitfalls. People will gravitate towards particular maps, which favour particular loadouts, which creates metas. It really is a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation.

force us into SBMM so anyone over a 1.3 k/d is forced into lobbies that are unforgiving, laggy, unfun, and full of hostile players who are also unhappy they're forced into ultra meta world championships LMFAO, forced.. funny, when its CBMM and you join in as a .3 kd player every match you run is identical to what you describe, welcome to the jungle scrub. Earn that KD instead of farming poor players. When it comes to quitting.. if you need to quite a match more than once a day, you clearly have issues that require you to stop playing the game and deal with real life. I have no sympathy for those who want to quit a match repeatedly to protect themselves from those players they are facing. If its so bad, take a break. you clearly need it.

1 ReplyIdea: Quit penalty: Make a Forums shame board.

2 RepliesQuitters be mad 😂

15 RepliesCommunity…”peeps leaving matches and it’s gotta stop!” Community…”leave penalty is BS!” Do you see the paradox here guys?
-
You sure talk about your k/d a lot…
-
1 Reply………welp time to watch the fireworks go off, popcorn anyone?
-
1 ReplyThe real problem to me is Bungie needs to add another player stat, a ranking. If you constantly play your peers, your K/D is going to hit 1.0. Nobody who's really good wants to see a 1.0 when blueberry mcgee also has a 1.0 because he plays in the berry patch. I think a lot of the flak about SBMM would stop if people had something to show off for it and didn't see their K/D plummeting. Now if you're genuinely quitting because you don't like sweats and miss your pubstomps, I don't think that's an issue Bungie should have to cater to.

3 RepliesJust enjoy other modes instead... until bungie ruin them as well..
