After seeing through all the stages stasis went through as a stasis main and witnessing all the light 3.0 changes. I can now say without a doubt stasis feels like it's lacking or falling behind. I understand at one point stasis was broken I loved the subclasses to death, but it needed a serious nerf and rebalance.
STASIS SHURIKEN BUFF
However light subclasses in comparison now with their 3.0 change makes stasis less desirable. In some cases, less effective. Hunter's throwing knives are so lethal but not only lethal but can have really good utility and ease of you is high on them as well. I mean you have two exotics that makes them even easier to rely on. Stasis shuriken's tracking and damage got nerfed so hard that it had to be rebuffed but a very small amount on tracking and velocity, but the damage still never got buffed back up. You know how painful to see those shurikens not even kill a low health guardian even when I land two of them. They do even less damage when you ricochet them off walls and objects. Yes, they can ricochet off targets to another, but the damage is low so that's not that reliable to count on. As for their utility part if that was strong, I'd be fine with the damage being low, but their utility is also weak compared to other melees. Tracking compared to a throwing knife feels less effective, the slowness you get from them is less effective than a smoke bomb from Nightstalker mind you that smoke can apply debuffs to buff your damage and mess with vision on top of doing a damage on the initial hit. Like how is a smoke bomb more effective at slowing people than a whole subclass that's about that? What? Yes, you could argue we can freeze, and we have double melee charges, but you also made it, so we have to use all three abilities just to build enough stacks to freeze and lastly just because we have two doesn't make it better if the ability itself doesn't have a strong point to right on the first place. Plus throwing from Gunslinger can also have two with an exotic and just as easily get them with or without it while still maintain everything I said above about them. Stasis Shuriken don't even have an exotic for them to help them, but I wonder would that even be enough to make them strong or should they receive a buff on top of that to make the exotic desirable. I personally think they need both. A buff and an exotic for them as an ability shouldn't be strong just because of an exotic and throwing knives seem to execute that very well.
REVENANT HUNTER BUFF
I say stasis as a whole needs a buff because stasis as whole got nerfed pretty bad. The slowness got nerfed super hard along with the ease of use of freezing. Freezing needed to change that was well understood but slowing getting nerfed was overkill along with the Shuriken nerf. Throwing a dusk field on someone just to see them easily jump out like it's a joke to them or hitting them with Shurikens just see them run very soon right after. There's so much fast movement in the game that stasis slow often feels like it's not doing enough. Half the time a hunter will just dodge out of my dusk field unless I increase the size of it. I'm not saying take away ability to jump or any kinds of ability to dodge out of it but there should be a give and take here. It already takes 3 of my ability to freeze and dusk field alone isn't going to freeze you in time unless my opponents let it happen so otherwise if slowness is staying nerf like this why give them chance to use their ability and such when I can easily just walk out of it instead. The benefits of slowing someone causes more flinch but I don't know how effective that exactly is because since we have so many ways to stop flinch that it may not actually do anything against someone who rocks two flinch resist mods and maybe a high stability weapon since stability now counters flinch. Resilience counters stasis by how long you stay frozen but I'm unsure how much that's actually needed because most of time you're not going to be frozen by people running stasis unless they're a warlock, or a stasis user running cold snap, or a crazy person like me who still goes for the freeze depending on the build. Most of the time if you are frozen it's not that long for resilience to even matter in that situation and you may even be dead already so should resilience even matter to stasis anymore as a counter? If anything, that's just another way to hurt stasis. Lastly the hunter's Revenant super while it's not bad if you aim accidentally at a wall (Has happened to me quite a number of times) that tornado not coming out.
BAKRIS EXOTIC UNFAIRLY NERFED
Just something I've noticed too these passed seasons the stasis exotics just keeps getting nerfed on hunter. Now Renewal grasps fairly needed the nerf, but Bakris didn't. The change to make the damage buff from the exotic only work in pve makes no sense. You already have us waiting on a timer before our dodge finally starts its cooldown and the shift ability in pvp is basically blink am I wrong? Why am I able to still die in it or better yet why make it so people can easily track my movement with it after making the change above. Bakris only buffs your damage by 5% for arc weapons which isn't really much you can do with that and yes slowed enemies also while the ability active also increases damage by 5% but that's a total of what 10%? While solar gets easily from a subclass we have to use an exotic that puts are cooldown ability also on cooldown before starting the cooldown itself and also gives us a damage buff but for a much shorter time that we can't extend as well as makes weapons of chose situational? Doesn't really make a whole lot of sense. At this point the only reason to use this exotic in pvp is for the dodge teleport ability and Winter shroud. You can still do wonders with it but in pvp it's currently the weakest exotic for Stasis and mind you it's the very first stasis exotic for hunters. At least Renewal Grasp still can shine and have great support play. At this current time any teleporting like ability is better on other subclasses than Bakris.
While I'm excited for Strand I'm worried about three things. With Strand coming out will Stasis be left behind even further? Will Strand be only as strong as stasis making it weaker than light 3.0 subclasses? How broken is that grappling hook ability going to be?
I love stasis so I hope that Bungie is actually going to buff more for this subclass soon or at the very least make me finally a shuriken exotic. Don't get me wrong in pve and pvp stasis has its use and can be fun to use but I couldn't ignore what it lacks and the unfair nerfs it got. Regardless at the end of the day I'll always play with stasis even when nerfed into the ground. Curious to know what everyone else thoughts are on Stasis right now? (Most people I spoken to forgot it was even a thing now)
