Beneath the bloodstained sand old

I get the feeling the Witness isn't NEARLY as powerful as we think.

The Witness is a small grey alien that uses Resonance to appear godly. Look what happened to Rhulk when Resonance and the Pyramid tech got used against him. I get the feeling it's as Savathun says: he's just a bro who found an ancient source of darkness and created technology from it that he used to transform himself, like a mix of The High Evolutionary and Tony Stark. I just can't picture the Witness flying out from its massive Pyramid and waving its hands around causing planetary destruction and that's because the Witness is just a mastermind and manipulator, hiding behind intimidation tactics and big imposing Pyramids to hide how small it actually is. As soon as it's Pyramid is infiltrated and the Resonance technology is turned against it, it's after images, echoing voices, and shroud will turn off like a light bulb for DPS time. Everything the Witness has done has been espionage, manipulation, and fear mongering tactics. Appearing as us in the Black Garden. Abducting us into it's Pyramids. Talking through our Ghost. Lying to Savathun. Lying to Rhulk. And giving us power to sway us. If the Witness was truly super powerful, it wouldn't have needed to lie to the Krill and create the Hive, corrupt Rhulk, lure Guardians with Stasis, recruit the Scorn, Cabal, Psions, Calus and others. It's saying the Travelers pale heart holds the key and sends Calus to Neomuna for something. If the Witness was nearly as powerful as we think, it could've ended us back in Season of Arrivals and wouldn't have to prepare so much. It wouldn't need a pale heart and it wouldn't have to recruit Calus, Eramis, Rhulk and so many other Disciples. I expected the being behind the Collapse to be scary and waste no time doing something apocalyptic but so far, the Witness ain't about it. Fingers crossed for The Final Shape and I'm hoping it has a second form or something that's actually intimidating.

  • The Witness' greatest power seems to be deception. Without it he never would have created the Hive, which I would argue was the most frightening weapon in his arsenal. I think the Hive annihilated over 500 worlds or something like that.

The witness will be a strike boss. Not a dungeon boss or a raid boss. A strike boss. We’ll stroll up casually on the regular basis and OTK it. Also confirmed that the collapse happened as a result of the Witness commanding Savathun to conquer the Sol system. Reasons why it never went through was because at least for one, savathun didn’t commit enough forces and intentionally spared enough humans that they’d survive. secondly she was rolling up with the witness when the Traveler fought back so… Initial hive invasion of Sol followed by pyramid ships and the witness and a couple disciples. Humanity fell quickly and without any time to respond to the Hive hordes that spilled into Sol. Whatever wasn’t killed by hive was killed by the energy battles between light and dark

        • Honestly it's probably the strongest when it comes to using darkness but when it comes to physical powers I think Rhulk would probably win though we'll know when more info on the Witness comes out

          • Well, to start with, The Witness is not like Rhulk whom cracked a rib bone from the creature (I forget what it's called) in Fundaments seas, and confronted the Worm Gods. No, the Witness is like Terminator (bad example but still works), IT and I mean IT, may have Darkness resonance to follow it around and give it a menacing look but there's a prophecy as foretold in the Vow of the Disciple raid (the giant miral just before the jumping puzzle after Caretaker) that states: The Hive and Scorn love the Darkness and worship the Witness, The Pyramid Fleet enters Earth and stops Guardians, the Witness will commune with the Traveler and drink the light, The Witness will kill blank If you ask me if the Witness is as powerful as the prophecy is foretold then the whole premise of The Final Shape, (whenever that comes out) will be the end of the prophecy.

If the witness is in fact the winnower from the unveiling lore book then he probably is waiting for the right moment. Remember savathun made him think he killed the traveler during the collapse so he left the system to the hive. It was only when the traveler awoke that his forces became alerted to it. Also at one point there may have been many travelers so it is not too far fetched to say he assumed it wasn’t the last one which would explain why he left the system to the hive.

The Traveler and the races inside it are.... A game of balance. It’s The Traveler who can wipe out planets in an instant. It’s The Traveler who pours forth it’s War Angels. The Witness plots, schemes, savors...

                • The Witness strikes me as more of a tactician than a warrior. Physically it may be weaker than we think, but that doesn't mean it isn't powerful.

                              • Arrivals was the Escalation. Darkness moving in with a Switch Blade and Traveler pulling out a Desert Eagle. After Seeing Savathuns Death(not her final) and the Traveler's Plain foiled by us, it Deemed Checkmate and is coming to Collect. It may not be as powerful as we think, but it does hold Power we have yet to understand. So power scale it's still quite high. The Witness is playing a Game of Patience. It's not as much as Fighting Hand to Hand, it's more of trying to put smart the other one.... predicting ones next Move. That's where I think it's so powerful. Kinda makes me think of the "Father of Lies" and how the two are similar.

                                • It very much seemed like if Savathun was allowed to complete her ritual, the game would have been over for the witness, because even it couldn't touch Savathuns power , it Couldn't get Rhulk out and needed us to stop the Traveler from escaping there, If Our and Savathuns relationship had been better the Light and Dark saga would already be over
