You may think it was a good idea to introduce CBMM but it was only a temporary fix within a much bigger problem.
SBMM is trying to address that problem as a solution when it cannot due to the core issues that are neglected being unaddressed.
What is causing the “ruffle feather” syndrome within Control??
It is because COMP is lacking in incentive and fun.
Trials is absent and will not be back probably mid season.
The core playlists are in an old standard of play due to map rotation and map creativity lacking.
So many playlists that split the population versus fixing the actual issue itself which is: Lobby Balancing and Connection.
SBMM is actively doing what it is required to do.
The problem is players forget how they entertain Control(CBMM).
If you spent 2-3 years sweating your life away ie stacking teams, running META non stop, not playing casually in one of the most casual settings we had, not taking responsibility for your actions in play and improving, you are the reason SBMM was brought back and this includes myself.
The experience was horrific for the majority of players who did not dedicate every waking moment to PVP and it is showcasing itself via SBMM.
You can say it is a punishment when in reality, it is a “reality check” to how players entertain the most casual MM system we had.
The problem is not the matchmaking system, it is all the components that make up PVP.
Components:
Active to Non Active Players
Maps and Map Rotation
Modes
Que Voting
Playlists
Population Level
Behavior of play
Incentive
Neglect
META
Identity
Honesty and Integrity
Exploitation
Boredom
Bungie’s decision making
The core system needs to be wipe and restored.
Layout that could work:
Casual
SBMM/CBMM
Competitive
SBMM/CBMM
Each mode and map is determine by players in que voting.
Competitive playlist should come with Clash and Control via a 4v4 or 6v6 and there MUST BE an incentive of play other than fake ranks and rewards that can be earned via Quickplay.
Teams should match against teams and small groups should match with small groups.
Priority for balancing teams should be in order by:
Connection
Matchmaking
Lobby Balancing and Skill Ceiling
This list could go on and on.
At the end of the day, it is up to Bungie to choose a side regardless of how we argue, debate or whine about the changes going forward.
Do not be surprised when the decision made is the one you least or love the most.
We are all apart of this cesspool we called “Destiny” and our compassion for it due to the potential it has, showcases that.
We have suffered for 8 years, how many more are you going to continue for in toxicity versus informative for change??

Very well said. You make good points. It would be nice to find playlist/ game modes that works well for both speed of match making and balance. Within that having it fair and fun for both the higher skilled players and lower or casual players. I just hope Bungie actually works on the game and make the large updates the game needs. Not just focused on small improvement.
