NO! Exotics should be 100% distinctive from legendary armor. That's the whole point of exotics looking like exotics do. To be distinctive on first glance.

The argument "you don't have to use it" doesn't work here. People will always use features that give them an edge over others in competitive aspects of the game (Gambit/Crucible). Imagine running into a enemy Titan bubble and you can't see the titan is wearing Helmet of the 14th Saint because it is transmogged to look like a regular, legendary helmet. You are now blinded by the bubble and don't know why and will absolutely die, even in super. Imagine you attack a Titan and he has a transmogged One-Eyed-Mask. You can't see it until you are dead or unless you check your buff/debuff bar. Imagine a Titan using Eternal Warrior and you can't see it because the helmet is transmogged. You wonder why he gets an overshield after his super cast. Imagine a Titan using Armamentarium. You wonder why he has 2 grenades because you can't see he is using Armamentarium. Imagine a Titan using Mk.44 asides and has it transmogged and you wonder why the Titan has 2 overshields (juggernaut and the exotic boots one). Should I keep going? I think I made the point clear.

  • That won't happen because it is simply too much coding work. Having 2 separated visual systems instead of a single one can cause a lot of problems with bugs that, for example, display the wrong ornament at the wrong time or maybe both at the same time. It is an over-compilcated request for a niche feature for a problem of yours so little that it isn't relevant compared to the other thousand problems Destiny 2 has.

right? defeats the purpose of why an exotic looks the way it does. otherwise they'd just make them look generic af
