With perks that increase rate of fire (desperado, now cranial spike) I'm getting pretty tired of the faster rate of fire also reducing damage.
Don't get me wrong, I get it, I understand why it's a thing.. but I would much, MUCH rather take a lesser rate of fire increase WITHOUT losing any damage.
I understand the overall dps may go up in some cases as the system is right now, but it's just very.. annoying seeing "ah, rate of fire with cranial spike will increase! ....with a 20% damage reduction to compensate". That takes all the wind out of my proverbial sail.

They did say it was only in PvP at least for cranial. And that’s for balancing purposes. On the others, I don’t have much else to say.

That's the basic rule of thumb honestly anywhere. If it's slow it'll hit like a truck. If it's fast as fudge it'll hit like a wet wipe. Some guns on here though are balanced inbetween.

This has been a thing in FPS forever. Higher date of fire = less damage per round. This is not just a Destiny thing.
-
Yeah I mean with the damage nerf why not just use a 180

I agree, tbh. I've never saw the reasoning behind letting a perk increase the fire rate while also decreasing the damage output for a total dps increase of barely anything. A perk should only help the gun, only ever granting detrimental effects if the bonus it gives is exceptionally strong. When you increase the fire rate, it causes you to reload more often, which reduces sustained dps even further.
-
I just hope that doesn't affect pve because right now it's strong but clunky and if it does it'll be the opposite
-
I'm not a huge fan of rate of fire changes in general.

Edited by ParrotTom: 8/11/2022 11:53:28 PMThey've been inconsistent with ROF/ damage scaling for a while: Sweet Business scales. Huckleberry doesn't. If a Spinning Up Suros Regime scales, Glass Half Full more than compensates. Breakneck/ Onslaught scales. Desperado doesn't reduce damage anymore since they reduced its ROF. Adagio doesn't scale damage. Successful Warmup, Archer's Tempo, Cornered, and Kickstart don't scale. As for DMT, it's ROF at 5 stacks goes up by almost 40%, but loses 20% damage. In PVE, it's still keep the buff in damage (I think like 30-40%), but loses 20% at 5 stacks. I wouldn't expect the reduction to work in PVP, but it's still a huge buff in PVE if you're gaining up to +40% damage, then losing half of that in exchange for a 40% ROF increase.

They need to lower that 20%. It needs to reliably 3 tap regardless of resil.
