My Review of WQ

Im not in any way trying to troll or anything, but i jus love to discuss topics with people, in this case how i felt about D2's newest expansion. I hate to be that guy lol but honestly, I wasn't a huge fan of the WQ campaign and I say this as a fan who truly wants to see this game series soar. I felt like the story.... wasn't too meaningful and I severely wish it was expanded upon more. But hear me out tho. Also this is gonna be kinda long so bear with me lol😅. In all honesty, I expected a lot from this expansion, and i mean, A LOT. Expecially with the amount of reviews it got from the fans and big time companies, but I was pretty disappointed with what was releasedto us. I wasn't as disappointed as I was with beyond light but still, it was a letdown. The main problem I has with this season was the fact that even though the expansion was called the Witch queen, we barely interacted with savathun. For years, we've heard savathun's name throughout almost the entire series. We never saw her in d1 or d2 until the season of the lost campaign. That really sucks because I think that she should've at least been revealed at the end of forsaken in the form of a cutscene or something. That's when the balls should've started rolling. In any case, in season of the lost, I fell in love with how savathun presented herself to us. She's smart, cunning, confident. Her voice is very soothing, and yet dangerously entrapping. Her ability to mix truth with lies is pretty remarkable, because most of what she said in season of the lost, I agreed with. Her words resonated with some of the beliefs I had about the traveler, the line between light and dark, her foreshadow of a higher and darker power. Even her bluntness about Mara and Uldren/crow's relationship was shockingly true. She really addressed to us some concerns that some of us have had since the beginning of D1. Honest to God, I think I loved her character more than cayde. When she speaks, you can hear so many emotions. Hatred, regret, betrayal, sadness, loss, and yet she soeaks with such authority in a very down to earth but sinister voice. I sincerely adored savathun, and I excurciatingly wanted to interact with her more on a personal level. I wanted to hear her thoughts on everything she experienced; to hear her story from her point of view. To relate with her and have more discussions about the nature of the universe our Guardians live in. I wanted her to explain why she built temples to her siblings. I wanted her to characterize and reflect on the life she had before she became a hive god. I wanted to experience her true feelings, but I wanted it to be hard to differentiate reality from truth. To struggle whether to believer her words or not. Her character could've soar though the roof, but in my honest opinion, I feel like her character is wasted in WQ. If all of this had been shown. This expansion would've easily been number 1 by far. I felt awful when she died cause again I felt like we didn't get enough of her nearly as much as we should've. Especially when comparing this expansion to season of the lost. The lack of interactions we got with savathun caused again missed opportunities to introduce critical points to building the world of destiny. Sure, it was revealed that savathona and her sisters were lied to by the darkness. If we had interacted with her more, we probably could've learned more about the witness, the pyramids, the nature of of supernatural abilities, and the entities that are able to pass them onto other people. Maybe a little something about what really happened during the collapse. In anyway, we needed something to engage our curiosity, but again I was really disappointed by the fact that this never happened. Which brings us onto the next point. I don't wanna sound rude either but I had a hard time focusing in on the campaign's quest-line. Tbh, nothing really stood out to me that much. The entire campaign felt like something similar that we see in the seasonal model. It just felt... ordinary. Rushing into a temple, finding the artifact, defeating the enemy, retrieve the artifact, and getting out. It just felt a little repetitive to me. I would have loved it if each temple had like traps, puzzles, or significant activities that represented the personality and character of each hive god sibling. And if savathun narrated the story behind each temple (i.e sibling), it would've increased the world building to another level. There were some things that I was pretty confused about as the story progressed. Things like how were we able to access savathun's throne world so easily?; why was the pyramid so willing to help us get to the Statue?; how did savathun push us all the way back to Mars from her throne world?; why did Mars suddenly appear again, despite being shrouded in darkness?; how did the weapon crafting mechanism just appear out of nowhere?; Is the guardians' new psychic ability going to get a better explanation?; why did savathun suddenly lose all interest in us?; Why was savathun's throneworld so different than the other ones weve seen?; Why is the darkness so bent on killing savathun that they would invade her throneworld?; how did the scorn get into her throneworld?; why didn't her throneworld collapse as soon as she died?I was hoping for detailed answers, but at most we got a somewhat half answer. Also... I'm not criticizing the witness, but was I the only one who thought he looked like something from Megamind?😄 I jus wanted to be sure. But in any case, all of this is just my speculation from watching the gameplay. Maybe there was more to it that I never got to see. But in my opinion, I would probably rate WQ a 6.8. At most a 7. It's jus I was really expecting a lot from this game, but was kinda disappointed with what was presented to me. I wanted to be invested but there wasn't a whole lot that grabbed my curiosity and make me want to invest more. The throneworld was beautiful, but I wished there was more in it, like wildlife; a sinking mechanic in the swamp; a new enemy race only available in her throneworld, like those bug pictures in the concept art, or that giant frog. I also did enjoy looking at void 3.0, I thought it was very innovative, and asked myself why this wasn't in d2 vanilla. But the most important part is that it's better late than never lol. I really like it and solar 3.0, and can wait to see what they do for arc 3.0 But that's all my opinion. I'm not criticizing bungie or anything. I jus like to give a critical analytical reaping to things that I've noticed in the things I see or play. I even did it to horizon forbidden west. But this is all jus my speculation. The next thing I gotta watch is the raid so I'll probably give a review about that too. I'm glad ur moving forward bungie, an even though I may not have enjoyed watching WQ, I can't wait to see what u release in the future! Also if anyone is reading this, again I'd love to have a heartfelt discussion with the people of the community and would love to hear their opinions as well. Just please be respectful. Thanks.
