After roughly 2500 hrs in D2, mostly PvP, I fell in love and took a break for several months. And after coming back and playing recently, just … wow, this is bad.
When I left in early January, I thought they were going to lessen ability usage? It feels like abilities are now more ubiquitous than ever. Nothing but overshields and grenades. Many subclasses seem to have abilities that confer seriously overpowered advantages.
Still getting killed multiple times by the same super, still horrifically mismatched games, and matches seem to be dominated by cheese like Witherhoard and Lorentz driver. Snipers feel borderline incontestable. The once rarely seen bow-to-hand cannon hot swap — which is incredibly irritating and unfun to play against — now seems common.
I’m sure I’ll get some hate for this, and that’s alright. None of this matters very much to me. No matter how good or bad the game is, I will never again invest in Destiny the way I used to. But it is disappointing to see that, if anything, PvP has gotten worse, not better.

The core of D2 pvp problems...is bad matchmaking. Everyone has access to essentially the same kit. Not everyone has the same skill. Forcing dissimilar groups together was always a fools errand. Bungie has periodically tried reducing individual player power since 2014 which gave us D2 vanilla and various metas I might say that is a poor remedy to matchmaking. How much will Bungie sacrifice to protect their privileged "influencers" at the top?
