  • Mate, your banging your head against a brick wall. As soon as you dare to mention SBMM you'll be enveloped by the naysayers telling you players will cease to enter the fray. I mean wouldn't you rather keep getting stomped on by the so called PvP God's in a totally unbalanced game mode than enter a mode that levels the field? Wait times will extend, less players in the pool, lag this, lag that ..blah, blah, blah. You've heard it all before. I agree with you.

  • They won’t do it, cause all of the good players and sweats will whine that they have to play people their skill level, if you’re looking for a easy way to win in PVP, I’d suggest hunter, ease of use and best exotic/ability synergy is the game.

  • How else will the streamer sweatlords pad out their KDs if SBMM is brought back?! We had it up until June of 2020. Then Bungie stupidly listened to the crybaby streamers and now Crucible has become a cesspool. All so streamers could -blam!- all over less skilled player.

  • SBMM is already active in the Survival and Elimination playlists. Trials has a form of SBMM in the form of the nonflawless pool. Are you saying you want SBMM in every game mode, including "noncompetive" game modes like Control? I believe this used to be the case, but Bungie changed it due to the increased matchmaking times and lag.

    • While idk what the best decision is for pvp one thing I notice A LOT is when you have (2) three stacks or a four stack and a two stack in the lobby they get put together on the same team. It happens all the time. And I don’t get mad but it’s like “wow! Really?!” Then the remaining solos are on their own. You have 2 stacked groups on 1 team and if they all enter the team chat they instantly become one. Same reason why I feel freelance gambit is a thing. I saw the game literally put the same 2 stacks on the same team multiple times in a row, more than putting them against each other. I’m for making friends and all that and it normally wouldn’t be something to mention but it happens way too often to just be a coincidence. My opinion the 2 three stacks should immediately put against each other if the remaining players are solo. Then each team gets a stack with 3 solo players. Of course if there are other stacks in the lobby it’s perfectly fine.

      • I used to like PvP (like not love) when SBMM was a thing. I didn’t mind playing control matches in my skill bracket. I have no desire to “git gud” at an activity I actively dislike now I would much rather spend that time in PvE and other games I enjoy. Destiny PvP just isn’t for me anymore.

        • Exactly why I play comp now. Playing with and against people around my skill level may be more annoying at times, but my god I’d be lying if I said it didn’t make me a better player. Spent a couple hours in comp after getting tired of bad teammates in control a few days ago, and when I switched to quickplay, I dropped a 30.0 (granted I was using a pos sweat loadout, but still.)

          What they need to do is stop pretending Peer to Peer networking "works" and like 99% of every other games, add Regional Dedicated Host Servers. Not only does that reduce a lot of the "WTF was That" moments, it would solve a lot of Security issues too (especially DOS and other IP attacks) too. And before the FanoBois start chirping that it can't be done, For Honor shipped with Peer to Peer Networking. There were so many technical performance and cheating issues, that people quit playing and in mid game, they replaced it with Dedicated host Servers. So if the company actually believes in their game, believes in delivering a Quality Experience to their players and wants you to be a Repeat Customer and think of them when you buy your next game, this is what you do. Or you can be a Bungle.

            • Halo Infinite has a smaller player base than D2 and its only been out for like 7 month while D2 has been out for 5 year. Halo Infinite has SBMM but that didn't seem to help keep players around and became a point of complaint.

                  PvP is dying because of the dumb abilities, fusions, and stuff like LoW and Omni. Not because of CBMM. Edit: AE was awful too.

                  • Every time they do the really good pvp talents cry because they get matched up against others like them which makes it harder for them to look like a God. They like stomping on players who have no skills because it makes them feel good about themselves. And it helps to keep a positive KD. I'm horrible at pvp but I ain't crying about it. Maybe you should try something else. This place is full of tears. I'm going to go play a little pvp and get my scrub -blam!- kicked but I ain't going to cry about it. Boohoo

                        The population is too small and cbmm has done exactly what I said it would do to cement its stay because when sweats have lost the argument completely the last resort crutch is "well the population is too small" while they are reason it is small in the first place. Bungie chose the 1% over the 99% and eventually have to make the choice they should have along time ago. They depend on Bungie for income not the other way around new sweats and pros are made everyday they are replaceable in the same sense a casual is, nobody here is special myself included. When they admitted they took it out for a small group then they already had the answer.

                        • Bungie would hurt from change matchmaking and trials. The streamers are getting attention to the game and in turn are getting paid for Carries etc. take away the revenue from streamers and they’ll bounce and the game gets less attention. Bungie most like doesn’t want this.

                        • The only people who wanted SBMM removed are streamers and sweats who want to stomp on noobs because whenever they play someone of their own skill level and they can't go 45-2 they start crying.

                        • True, the numbers are too low for that, at least the ones from bottom 50%. Even tho there seem to be enough players online, I face lot of the same people. Even in the SBMM mode most times I get paired in the same way as in CBMM, that yard stick nonsense that tries to balance the teams istead of balancing the brackets. There aren't enough low kd players queuing, simple as that. I don't mind losing or getting stomped now and then, what annoys me is that it's so damn hard to learn or try things against these people who are much better and what's more, they stack. And all these pro's out there, that care so much about kd are the first ones that bow out of games if they are not 'winning', which for them means to stomp and keep their precious kd high. They rarely play for objectives, they just enjoy taking advantage of the lowbies to pump their kd. These are the same people who oppose SBMM, because they won't be that good anymore when facing people at their kd bracket. Anyway, I wouldn't hope too much from Bungie to fix this mess. IMO, the game won't see much change, as the developer obviously doesn't want to spend resources on this game, especially not on pvp. They'd only change it if bottom 50% would just stop playing, then top 50% would not have so much fun and played less. Corporations only care about numbers. But this scerio is unlikely, as the game offers pinnacles for pvp participation, not to mention other rewards, catalysts, etc. Meanwhile, I just try to get better. I just got back after 2 yrs or so and I probably play around 30 pvp games or more a week, and the kd is slowly rising, but it's painful and very little fun. I'll give it a month or two, and if things are still the same I'll just call it and uninstall it (again), can't bang my head against the wall endlessly. Do try to have fun. Good luck out there.
