It really can be difficult at times, and the first couple months I hardly remember because of how sleep deprived I was, but now that our kids 1 Year old I'm really enjoying the Dad life.
The payoff of all the work is just making them happy and it's one of the only times in life I feel like I do something right.

Food for thought,… Write yourself a letter with all the things you were expecting during the next year of your child’s upbringing, how it actually went, and what you are expecting in the year to come. Repeat this process every year until they move out of the house on their own. Give them the letters when they announce they are having their own children. Think of it as cheap therapy,…twice.

I don’t own my heart anymore and I’ve accepted that. It’s attached to this living breathing thing outside of my body and it hurts like -blam!- hell, but there is no purer form of love and selflessness I have ever experienced It’s easily the most pain I’ve ever been in, yet the happiest I’ve ever been too.

This reminds me of when I watched the girl go swimming at the beginning of Jaws.

Great. Now take some time. Get caught up on your sleep....because the Terrible Twos are coming. When it will seem that every other word from your angel's mouth is either "NO!!" or "MINE!!"....and life is one long temper tantrum. Though in my nephew's case, he didn't hit that stage until he was three. But he's a pretty mellow kid.
The payoff of all the work is just making them happy
Adolescence is when the kid decides you didn’t pay enough and they send the bailiffs in to take all your happiness away.

Just wait…. It gets worse.
