This is a reward mechanic that is not compelling or interesting in any way, is not a measure of ability or skill, and the only challenge it presents the player with is one of patience for dealing with this terrible reward mechanic. People don’t play games to have their patience tested. They play it to have fun, to escape, for good stories, and/or to be competitive. An incredibly low RNG drop rate does not fulfill any of the core reasons people play games. It’s a lottery, and the thing that is gambled is player time and patience. The notion of rarity regarding an in game item should not come at the cost of basic enjoyment.
We saw this sentiment throughout the community very heavily with Vex, as we have in the past, and yet here we are AGAIN.
The latest raid exotic also represents a missed opportunity considering the nature of the raid. There could have been a community puzzle involving the symbols, or at the very least, something for individuals teams to figure out and do to trigger a quest to get it.
Not only that, this is an exotic that explicitly relies on the void subclass, during this season of renewed void subclasses, where the focus is on void all throughout the game, mainly the artifact mods. So what will happen here is that MANY players won’t get it until AFTER this season is over and we see renewed Arc and Solar subs and where the focus will be on these elements, making the raid exotic irrelevant for quite some time. And then what happens if/when we get a new subclass entirely come Lightfall? Still irrelevant since the focus will be on that.
I just really don’t think that you thought ahead when it comes to this. This is going to be a pain point for the community until Lightfall and beyond with the abysmal drop rate of this reward mechanic that completely lacks any redeeming qualities.
Thank you to anyone that reads this. My only wish is to improve the experience of the game and its endgame.

Definitely not, quests literally take all the rarity out of the equation. Not everyone is able to earn the same gear at the same rate in which they go after...and theres a reason they're called "exotics". Nothing about exotics were ever supposed to be common or easy to get.
-
I doubt they'll ever do a quest again. Divinity had the quest, and nobody ran the raid because of it. There are a select few that run/ran it more than once. The vast majority of players ran it once, got their divinity, and bounced. If people continued playing the raid, maybe we could have seen more quest exotics from raids. As it stands, Bungie had zero incentive to make future raid exotics based on quests rather than rng.
-
At least this one is pretty irrelevant.
-
What bothers me is when you do about say..120 clears (my friend did on deepstone) and still don't get the exotic. I got it very early, my 7th clear. I'm not saying all the raid exotics should be quest related but make them farmable like they did for crown and scourge. That was a good incentive atleast. Without it, it's just a literal roll of the dice and most likely NOT getting it. Causing people to eventually get sick of the raid unless they need pinnacles or they god rolls they're after. When I was farming vex I felt no joy after my 34th clear, I eventually got it. My response? "Oh. I got it" I'm serious, I wasn't happy, I was so sick of that raid that I didn't care that I got vex mythoclast. My raid team was freaking out though... But like I said, a raid quest or 2 would be nice in the future.
-
I find it interesting, every raid clear I‘m excited to see if I‘m lucky this week. Sure it‘s frustrating if you are unlucky, but I find it way more interesting than guaranteed quests and things like that.
-
I’m not so sure! You can get a group to run all three characters through Garden of Salvation every week on Fireteams. You can’t get a group to do one Divinity run without having to run with a bunch of useless -blam!- that never even stepped foot in GoS expecting to be carried. Quest Exotics aren’t so rosy either!
-
I think at 20 completions it should be guaranteed.
-
I look at it in a different perspective... sure I want the exotic but not getting it requires me to run it more which could lead to me getting the rolls I'm looking for on the raid weapons or for the red borders so I can craft my own.
-
I agree and I also feel that quest based raid exotic's are better for D2. Unfortunately the majority of the community loves to play devils advocate and will pull anything they can out of thin air to fight against a change that makes the game 'easier'.

Edited by IAGNRG: 3/20/2022 5:27:52 AMI do not find the raid exotics to ever truly be game changing, at least not to me. As a result, I don’t really see it as an issue.
-
Rng is fine. They just need to implement a better drop protection on raid exotics.
-
I do prefer quests over RNG, honestly. Sure, getting the raid exotic randomly is a great feeling, until it takes you 50 tries. Then, it becomes a "thank f*ck". Quests can be boring, but i prefer having a 100% chance of getting it than needing to pray every week.

Edited by StinkyDelicious: 3/19/2022 11:17:30 PMI understand the need for rng in a game like this but Bungie tends to overuse it. Luckily, this new raid exotic doesn't seem all that great to me. I'm not tempted to run the raid 50+ times to get it. Osteo and Parasite are really fun so I'm good for now. Got one raid clear and I can now focus on getting ready for GMs.
-
It is what it is. Got the exotic raid pulse on 3rd clear. Vex, 23rd clear. Anarchy, never dropped.
-
nha RNG is fine Just gotta pray harder
-
Wrong game dude, honestly I hate being that guy but you gotta get over it. We would all love to get what we want, when we want it. But thats not how this game has EVER worked. Exotics are supposed to be just that....exotic. Rarity is a thing for a reason, either stay committed or stop crying about it.
-
Your playing the wrong game if rng and grind is not your thing. That’s not an issue with the game that’s an issue with the player. It would be like someone buying metal gear solid and complaining they don’t like stealth mechanics. Than they shouldn’t of bought that game to begin with.
-
Nope. There are people who like RNG (even if it screws you for a bit) like me. I’m fine with alternating every raid where 1 has a quest and 1 has a final boss drop, but you don’t alienate an entire group of people just because somebody doesn’t like RNG. There are more players in this game than just you.

My only wish is to improve the experience of the game and its endgame.[/quote] Should have been the Glaive tbh the current raid exotic doesn’t even feel like one and weve never had a special raid exotic. People -blam!- on Exotic Glaives but imagine having Rhulks animated glaive (the legendary variation we get isnt like his) and you can hold the melee button to do a dash then heavy strike like rhulk does and it gets placed on a 10 second cooldown (for Pvp instead of 3 melee hits to kill this could make it so you only need to land 1 melee strike more to kill essentially counting as 2 hits) and you could do a charged shot that consumes maybe 3 shots and a cooldown that fires the beam he does in the boss fight, obviously scaled down and the same range the dash would be. It could also have had a cooldown. Its perk could have literally been called stuff relating to Lubrae or Rhulk and its lore could have been lore about Rhulk. What we have now is a pathetic attempt at a Void 3.0 specific gun which makes no sense since it looks nothing like a Pyramid or darkness gun and looks more like one of the guns from season of the dawn and the witness would not be giving a gun to Rhulk (how would he do this) and the gun boost a Light subclass rather then stasis what the Witness wants guardians using. The entire gun simply makes no sense, whoever designed it honestly needs to be replaced since a raid legendary should never literally be the raid bosses main weapon and the perks were so obvious to make

I want rng dungeon exotics
-
Personally I’d rather the RnG drop aspect is retained but a quest added for those that want to do something specific to guarantee that they get it.

Quest exotics will always be better than RnG exotics to me. That being said, this raid not including the exotic in the collections badge is a welcomed change, though it'd be amazing if it was a quest instead.
-
Quest raid exotics are fine until you're trying to do it a year after release and it's impossible to find people who are competent.
