I see you’re having a go at weapon crafting while admitting you haven’t had much exposure to it (after the glaive). Doesn’t add much merit to the post then does it? If you play the game normally and don’t focus too much on “getting it all done right now and asap!” Mentality… you end up getting red border guns to withdraw mats and end up getting patterns all through your normal gameplay. Levelling doesn’t take long at all (either through using them during normal game play OR equipping them right before activity end). The only limitation is not being able to use in high level or end game content untill you’re done - But I have weapons and gear for them anyway for now. I’m taking the game slow and enjoying content at a steady pace … have had few good guns crafted already and enjoying tryin out different perks and rolls till I find the one I like … Sorry your experience hasn’t been the same Guardian.

  • That’s my approach. I haven’t had too much of an experience with crafting but I am taking the mats out of all red border guns I get so that when I have a moment to sit down with it I can experience the most it has to offer. Also still working on getting exotic materials just to get outbreak perfected. Now THATS a ridiculous process.

System is designed a way that you either don't touch crafting at all or use bad weapons with bad perks on a grinding frenzy or you never get to play with the rest of your gears bad system is just bad system, let the rot sink in slowly don't make it smell any better

I've been playing with random guns that drops with a pattern on pretty useless rolls for some time and still nowhere near reaching the perks I desire, really wonder what exactly do you mean 'take your time play the game normally' you'd be using random red border weapons on random useless perks through 3 months to get the levels and materials needed or just don't touch weapon crafting at all, but if you don't, what exactly is your incentive to defend this utterly nonsense

Once again, sorry to hear your experience has been different to mine … Bearing in mind, RNG may also be different for us. I got a fair amount of red border weapons from playing PsiOps and Normal Wellspring. I do play few matches of gambit, crucible and strikes besides the seasonal activities. I avoided wellspring till they patched it … it’s understandable Bungie buffs XP on seasonal activity. So I’d either use the red border gun in PsiOps and Wellspring (if the perks combo is what I like) or Equip it right before the activity ends(this levels up the gun fast)… I get to extract the mats in usually two runs. For the guns I’ve crafted, same concept … I’d craft them, obviously with useless perks, level up by equipping them right before I complete the activity (strikes, gambit, crucible etc) … they level up fast that way and I go start changing perks and trying them out till I find the perk combo I like. Of course there’s the Shuro Chi method to level up (not for me though). I took a step back and gaming very casually now … so the above steps are what I did to make the most out of weapon crafting in the limited game time I get. Just to be clear, I’m not defending what the set up is right now … just sharing what I do to make the most of the set up they’ve got around weapon crafting.
