Sunspots, to me, should absolutely be damaging enough to give an enemy player a reason to not engage the titan or push through an area where the sunspot is blocking them. As a deterrent it definitely served it's purpose and continues to show one of it's better purposes in pve. Without that aspect of it, it kind of just feels like the stupid rift exotic warlocks have where if they kill enemies it drops a rift on their body, only this one tickles their health like launch vortex nova bomb.
But where I do actually agree with the nerf, in pvp, is that it was TOO strong. In super you could stop an enemy super from engaging you because just for touching it for less than a second they would lose 75 HP. For a player outside of super, in a single moment, they were set up to be one shot or died for something that has next to no audio cue and can spawn instantly upon an ability kill. It deserved to be balanced because it was so overwhelming as an ability if used correctly because they buffed not just it's damage, but it's utility to the moon.
I think a good middle ground to where its strong enough to get players to respect it, but not outright fear it, would be 35 per tick. 35 means it does a dps value of 175 damage per second which means a player would have to be standing in a DoT effect for more than a a whole second just to die which is more than enough time to avoid fatal damage, but punish players more fairly for pushing through. Since procing sunspots also isn't always consistent in pvp, it's more fair for it to be a little more lethal.
The new titan exotic SHOULD NOT be the reason that sunspots are nerfed across the board. The exotic pre-nerf understandably was a very powerful deterrent in pvp due to how broken sunwarrior is when active as well as having the single most damage area control in the game, but after it's nerf the uptime is substantially lower AND consumes an ability for it. Even in pve I definitely can see why it would be an issue because you were being rewarded just for playing the game naturally. But now that it's toned down, I think it's fair to retune sunspot damage to roughly the value I provided, otherwise they aren't giving it the respect and reward it should have for landing an ability kill in pvp.

Just another reason that bungie hates titans, they give a new exotic then make it worthless, just like stasis when they killed of titans stasis in pve too. Everyday I lose faith in this game. Listen bungie ether stop ruining everything titan or delete the titan from the game
