Nightmares were a narrative mistep and mistake. They didn't have the resources/time to make a more original story and enemy because they were leaving Activision during that time and lost access to their studios. The entire premise of the expansion: remixed location instead of a totally new one, reused past enemies, no creative set pieces in the campaign and hardly any cutscenes. If Shadowkeep never happened the story wouldn't be affected. We didn't have to go inside the Lunar Pyramid and could've waited till Arrivals. The connection to the Vex made zero sense and was a dead end. The Garden of Salvation was pointless and hilariously revealed NOTHING new about the Vex or Pyramids. The Ball thing could've just been given in Arrivals. I couldn't even tell you anything about Pit of Heresy either because it's lore was that uninspired and forgettable. So no. Nothing about that garbage DLC is relevant except Divinity. If I sound bitter it's definitely because I am. Worst year for lore because none of it developed into anything meaningful despite the entries actually being good individually like the K1 horror story and P53.

  • The Pit of Hearesy is basically who's the strongest to claim the Hive. However, we now know that Hive are fragmented and have their own "groups". They should just turn old dungeons into strikes.

  • All agreed except I love the sorrows weapons, Pit, and while the strike being the “finale” for the season was lame, I do like that strike…. All that said… shadowkeep was extremely lame and awful.
Who keeps making the dumpster armor? Shadowkeep, BL, and WQ all have a bunch of garbage strapped together and it’s called “armor”.
I thought the Witch Queen armor was strange at first but now I see that the poster set is a detective and knight mash up that's grown on me.

  • Fair enough! Everyone’s got their own likes… and your thoughts on the shadowkeep armor? I just feel very underwhelmed. I miss actual Hive themed armor like D1.

i agree shadowkeep needed the lore the to understand better but what im saying is the time displacements on mars helps show that the nightmares werent this random darkness ability they can now be seen as a similar thing as memories of the past coming back also the whole reason for the vex story at that time was because they were vex from the sol divisive the only sect of vex who follow the darkness the pyramid ball was the reason we went back to the black garden for GOS

The reason nightmares make ZERO sense is that ONLY the Lunar Pyramid made them and after the Traveler reformed they should've been purged and dispelled. Savathun was able to put a light curse on the Throne World Pyramid and greatly weaken and seal something beyond a God--a disciple of the Witness. So a Traveler shockwave would've been over kill and before shadowkeep, the Traveler had let one out to destroy Ghaul. These same shockwaves pushed back the Witnesses reach as it moved the world's, saving Earth, The Moon, Nessus etc. Nightmare energy has been very poorly defined and none of the other Pyramids even use it or generate them. Bungie simply didn't know what they wanted the Pyramids/Darkness to be and it really showed. Bungie first wanted the Darkness to just be manipulators that drove people crazy which is what K1 Revelation lore was about. Fast forward to now, and there is a clear "Darkness army" AKA Disciples on the way.

  • true its not said that the nightmares and time displacements are the same thing but they can be linked in a way that they are both parts of the past showing up maybe the nightmares are a more weaponised version but yes the witness’s disciples are undoubtly the main threat for lightfall theirs alot from shadowkeep what may need retconning like the doppelganger sequence feeling alot more out of place than anything else
