The crafting system on a whole sucks imo. I can craft an energy bow but can’t pick its damage type? I can craft a rifle but can’t pick the scope? I have to level up a gun with crappy perks to get perks the gun already rolls with from random drops? You have to level up an RL to level 13 just to get tracking.. but the same RL drops with tracking on it. The system on a whole is like lipstick on a pig and it feels really pointless.

I think the main point is the enhanced perks and stat boosts similar to a masterworked adept weapon. Take my forensic nightmare for example. It would be better than a randomly rolled one with the same perks, if only slightly.

  • Called it when they announced it I really do hate being proven correct so often, it’s really depressing 😞

  • Leveling up the guns makes perfect sense. I think that was a great call.

In theory yes.. but in my experience, the in practice part sucks. Why would I level up a crappy gun when I have a better version of the exact same gun? Like I just loove to play this game that much, to fulfill my time with trivial tasks so I can inflate playtime. Don’t get me wrong, if leveling up a gun was worth it I would absolutely do it. But not when I’ve already got a great roll on the same gun..?..

If you already have a better version and don’t want to level up the gun just dismantle it. Wait for something to come out that you do like. Doing trivial tasks that inflate playtime is basically a core mechanic of any looter shooter/rpg.

  • I think the issue here is you're seeing leveling up a gun as a separate activity, something you have to go off and do. Just run the activities you'd normally run with the gun equipped and it'll level up over time.

  • The leveling up should be for enemies and activities completed. I also believe I should only have to level up a gun once. If I want to have a PVE and PVP version I shouldn’t have to do the leveling repeatedly.

  • Leveling up guns was a thing in D1, though it was way more of a grind to level up gear in D1.
