I took the time to Masterwork my Dear friend after neglecting her for years. I was very disappointed to see only a marginal gain of stability for all that work. Do you know how hard it is to find heavy? 300 critical shots is insane..... For you to then feel like you got nothing in return. The gun should fire like a scout rifle if stability is the route you were going.
The fact that it is a Heavy Sniper Rifle should have a benefit all by itself. It is a heavy weapon, not a special, so by default it uses larger and harder to find ammo. It should have an intrinsic Armor Pierce upgrade. A boosted Magazine, and the ability to self-reload would make me not feel like I am wasting a good slot for something with more versatility.
(Some people have suggested some really good ideas here, consider reading them and add a few of your own.)

2 Replies in this Sub-ThreadSadly she is VERY underwhelming and underperforming. I have tried thinking of what they could do to fix it, but there isn’t anything that wouldn’t break the game in some way or another. In fact all snipers are pretty much worthless in the game.

There is always a way. Armor piercing is nothing devastating as far as Crucible is concerned. The fact that it is a Sniper Rifle automatically handicaps players due to the very existence of swords. There are some monsters out there when it comes to special and Primary Sniper Rifles, so I am not asking for anything there save for a View-Tac to be an option on some of my favorites, but the Heavy versions? There is absolutely no reason to equip them unless have a build that is focused on everything but Heavy, making the slot modular. That is what I chose to do with my Huntress. I needed to be able to swap weapons for bounties without feeling guilty and because I needed a weapon that could deal decent Boss damage in Glass for my primary set, I felt I was killing two punks with one wrench. To me, that should not be the only reason to look in their direction. There should be other situations the Heavy Snipers should be usable.

I agree. They just feel “off” in D2 compared to D1. I used to always have one on my toon, but now I only use them for bounties or catalyst completion’s and then they go right back into the vault 😕
