I hope the eager edge nerf isn’t as bad as it seems.

I get that it would probably make the day 1 raid race more difficult for those who can’t do such tech but the whole “we don’t want people to OoB with it” is a wild justification for it. It more on you guys to make sure that isn’t possible. It been like this for a while. When DSC launched you could literally just jump through a hole in the ceiling to get into the raid area. But it’s still just speculation until it actually drop. I still have hope since movement tech in any game is my favorite thing. Having something like this in d2 just makes it more fun. What do you guys think tho?

  •
Now caps maximum player airborne velocity (to a fairly high value) while active.
The fact that they specifically say "to a fairly high value" leads me to believe that this will still be a valid method for speeding around, but will just not be completely broken, because let's be honest, skating is straight up broken on Hunters.

They could have disabled it for a week until the raid race and week 1 clears where over and re-enable it without it needing a nerf and ruining the week 1 experience.

    • I hope it gets nerfed into the ground. I'm tired of being killed by random teammates in strikes and other activities while I'm just minding my own business trying to have fun. Those people are so toxic.

      • Idk why a lot of people have a problem with this sword, its a fun sword with a lot of mobility, thats all it has going for it.

        • It only is having its in air speed nerfed so it’s not that bad.

        • hopefully its just to fix the overcharged sword swipe that you can do with revenant and well of radiance, because the one where you just swap weapons isnt really all that crazy in terms of mobility

        • I wish it was more. At least for PvP. But breaking maps and activities isn't good either.

        • To me the nerf doesn’t seem to bad. They only nerfed the in-air speed which was what was broken tbh, and it’s not by THAT much. The other part, putting a cap on the speed, seems like it’s just for people who were abusing it in specific ways to go ridiculously fast, which could lead to glitches

          • Hope its worse... 😂 Hate that perk it's broken in pvp and if it causes day 1 raids to be speed run then yeah it needs a massive nerf and I hope it is trash.

            • I mean, just look at the workload variance. Either nerf one singular perk, or have to go in and examine the repercussions of that perk in every bit of map geometry you ever try to design.

            • IMO they should have just disabled the perk during the Day 1 Raid. I dont really use EE but the nerf made me a bit sad

What do you guys think tho?
Hopefully it’s not as bad as it seems, but the abstract wording on the speed cap really worries me. The perk really put a lot of life back into the game for me and many others since the original worldline nerf 2 years ago. Bungie’s justification is well off- they might as well just say we don’t like you being that fast but Kevin Yanes already confirmed it was intentional- lots of contradiction in messages here. Another solution would be to just disable it during contest. It’s highly unlikely the presence of the tech would have made any difference for those who can’t do it- it’s an easy mechanic to pull off and there’s a very strong correlation between teams that place highly in raid races and being mechanically skilled to pull of mechanics like sword skating, sparrow flying, slipstreaming etc. These teams will still place miles ahead of the rest of the playerbase with or without eager edge because they’re simply better. Basically eager edge won’t effect the relative raid race, only the absolute pace if that makes sense.
