I solo'd GoA and all I got was .....

Well, nothing at all, actually. There is no triumph. Having gotten screwed out of a Gally catalyst on a couple of team runs, I finally decided to see if I could do it myself. Only catch is that you need to do it (get the catalyst) in one consistent run; you can't load a save point and start over the next day from where you left off. I am by no means a PVE maven nor do I collect all the -blam!- weapons, so this would be a 'basic' effort of trial and error, tenacity, head banging, sleep deprivation, and luck. I did not know that at the time. I finally got going at 6 pm. At 4 am I finally had the catalyst! Yeah, real speed run there; I suck. No argument from me; I need to Git Gud! A few days left before reset I figure, "why not kill off the last encounter and grab a triumph. Never did that." 9 more hours later I finally wrapped the dungeon up and got bupkis, nada, zilch. Joke's on me! There is no triumph for soloing GoA. Or at least if there is, it's like the catalyst and must be done in one sitting. Why post this? Because that was the most fun I had with this game in a loooong time. And I really like this game. You die in an encounter and you go back to the beginning; 'Ground Hog Day', 'Edge of Tomorrow', take your pick. You learn from each effort and try one more time. More often than not, every time I died it was my own fault for doing something stupid or getting impatient. Other times, it was getting caught in a press by ads, being in the wrong place, or the dang boss teleporting to right beneath me and blasting me (on what would have been THE final damage phase). It got under my skin; try for a couple hours or so, go watch some solo'ing vids on YouTube, take a walk, alter loadout, try again. "Well that didn't work, back to the Izzy B". On the final encounter, I could log off and think about it for a while. Watch another couple of videos...get back to it for another try only to realize I don't have those mad skillz. Back to sneaking around fighting for attrition of health bars. Finally, everything clicks - skill, timing, LUCK and it's over with nothing to show for it. Even though this low reward solo activity is completely antithetical to a "looter shooter" and a social game like Destiny, I HIGHLY recommend this activity to any middling level guardians who are looking for a challenge to fill the next few days before WQ drops. It's achievable and taught me more about myself, tenacity, and how to operate in the game world more than most any other activity I've completed to date. But dang Bungie, not even an "atta boy"? That stings.
