Champion mods: You Tie our Hands AND Handicap us AND Penalize us, Why?

Three things I don't like about Champion mods: 1) You will use the guns we tell you to 2) You cannot use the middle two glove mod slots 3) You only can use 8 points on the other two glove slots, not 10 Play how you want to play(unless you want to play something with champions) 1) You tie our hands We can't use guns we like and are good with we have to use the guns you tell us to. Personally this doesn't bother me so much because I like to challenge myself by using different guns, but... It comes with a handicap. 2) You handicap us by making us use champion mods at the cost of our glove mods We spend a good amount of time working on builds, tweaking mods for a desired effect. If any of the builds we come up with involve using glove mods, we can't use that build for anything involving champions. So not only are our hands tied because we have to use guns you tell us to, the awesome builds we come up with work only in low level activities. Being forced to use your guns is bad enough but it also prevents us from playing how we want. 3) You penalize us by making the mods that force us to use the guns you want us to use cost 1 point each. So not only can we not use the middle two mod slots because we're forced to equip mods in those slots in order for the guns that we don't want to use to work, those mods cost 1 point each, meaning, we can't equip a stat mod and heavy handed on our gloves. Even though we have room for a stat mod and heavy handed, we can't use them on our gloves because a stat mod costs 3 and heavy handed costs 7 which equals 10, but, because each champion mod costs 1 we only have 8 available free points to spend. SOLUTION Here's my solution. You want to force us to use guns we don't want to use, fine. I'll give you that, but, do it in a way that doesn't cost us. Here's an idea: Add two slots to every gloves specifically for champion mods Make all primary champion mods cost 0 points to equip. That way we can use the guns you want us to use, AND, use our glove mods, AND, still use all 10 points on the mods we want to use. You can force us to use your guns AND we can have full use of our mods for builds OR one better Add two champion mod slots to every ghost Make primary mods cost 0 points to equip That way we can set up 3 ghosts, one for barrier/overload, one for overload/unstoppable, one for unstoppable/barrier, and swap ghosts depending on what we're doing. This would allow us to swap armor without having to mess with mods, or swap mods without having to mess with our armor. OR, EVEN BETTER YET. Make the guns you want us to use have those perks. This is the idea I like best. Just say this season these guns do barrier, these do unstoppable, this does overload, and make those perks intrinsic to those guns for that season. That's it, no mods to mess with, no returning to orbit because you swapped armor but forgot to swap mods. Just 'This season all X will be barrier' and when you equip X it's barrier. That's the real kick in the balls for me, not only do I have to use an auto rifle and a submachine gun, But I can't use the middle two slots for glove, AND I only get 8 points to spend on the other two slots instead of 10. Dunno just my thoughts Thank you Scratch

    • No no no. We'll micromanage you any damn way we want to ..... says the company who wants you to play any way you want to, unless it's a way we disagree with. Here at Bungo we stand by our motto, if there aren't problems, create them.

      • Amazing post! You’re literally doing Bungie’s job for them! All of these options would be a true blessing as opposed to what we’re doing now! It’s really giving the power back to the player.

      • Ohh cmon lets not beat around the bush honestly champions have been nothing but a stupid add on to make things a little harder or more tedious i personally just wish they were removed then we dont have to be forced to use mods and keep changing our loadouts it just feels unnecessary and anti barriers seem like the only champion that works without bugging out and not stunning i think they were a pointless enemy to add its just been nonsense preparing loadouts for 1 type of stupid enemy i just wanna play the bloody game without having to think about dumb mods

        • there's an easier solution, artifice armor doesn't give much to the game, too little slots when you run a fully modded build for grenades melee or class ability, i don't even have free slots to spare. The idea is for artifice armor gives an artifact mod slot, this mod slots capability is that you can slot in any artifact mods and that mod costs 0 energy and only in that slot. making the armor way better. 1 anti champion legendary weapon is fine because we are always going to use proper champion exotic with 1 legendary: arablest - 1 shot champion shield divinity - overloads continuously and overload champions can't even regen while this is happening, while other weapons inconsistently let overload champions regenerate health devil's ruin - infinite range, infinite stun and honestly this or divinity with unstoppable legendary, also deadlier the closer the champions get. + only 1 fireteam member with unstoppable is enough. #artifice_armor_0_cost_free_slot

          • Anti-Barrier Rounds, Staggering Rounds (unstoppable), and Suppression Rounds (overload) should be made available as permanent WEAPON MOD options on all primary ammo weapons, so that any non-exotic (since they don't have access to weapon mods) primary weapon can be used to deal with any champion in any season if you don't mind sacrificing other weapon mods like backup mag/major spec/etc. This could work perfectly well ALONGSIDE the current system of seasonal artifact mods that apply to your gauntlets that convey a champion damage type to a specific type of weapon that rotates each season giving you a limited selection of weapon types (including exotics of that type and non-primary weapons if some of the seasonal mods apply to a special/heavy weapon type like overload swords currently) that can also deal with champions by taking up a gauntlet mod slot instead of a weapon mod slot, but giving players the flexibility to choose which side of their character screen they want to apply a mod to and the freedom to use what ever primary they feel most comfortable with if they go the weapon mod route.

          • There’s no way you’re this upset about using specific kind of weapons for champions. They switch the weapons up every season, so it’s not like you’re using the same ones indefinitely, not to mention there’s so many different weapon combos you can use between the 3 people in your fireteam that would otherwise allow you to use stuff that’s not currently on the artifact for that season. I feel like this has to be a troll of some sort.

            • 1) GM's are honestly the only content you have to run champ mods and its mainly just overload... 2) The regular arm mods are pointless outside of PvP to use dex, there are easier ways to hit max reload speed which is the only other useful ones... unless like... your out here trying to throw grenades like Brett Favre. 3) To reitterate its one... single...activity.. that its absolutetly required and you can get around if there were no overloads for that strike... In conclusion... if you dont like the weapons for that season dont do GM's with overloads because everything else they are unnecessary.

Put this way, what's the point of having Grenade Kickstart Melee Kickstart Fastball Impact Induction Momentum Transfer Bolstering Detonation Focusing Strike Weapon Loaders Weapon Dexterity Artifact Arm Mods If we can't use them because we have to use champion mods?

                • You only need to build for champs at gm or master level. In all other modes, theyre so weak that we can basically delete them without using any champ mods. In Gms and Master, we should be expected to build towards champion killing. And in gm and master theres 3 of you, so more than enough room for build diversity when sharing the champion killing load amongst the 3 of you via mods and loadouts. You dont all have to run every champ mod.

                • They should just make seasonal artifacts a season long buff instead of a mod. Just display it on the character stats screen where the glimmer/exp buffs are.

Seasonal weapon mods should cost zero. I can't use more than 2 anyway and how the hell is it something "smart" and build crafty when you basically need them in harder content. They're not a build making choice. They're basically a requirement in harder content.

                      • Waaayyy too long so I’m not gonna read it lol but just like the other thousands of people who complain about this, you need to realize that it does keep the sandbox fresh. If you got to use whatever you wanted for everything, you’d get bored of those guns fast. The only thing I can say in this area is that all champ mods should cost 1 energy and all arms armor should have a designated slot for them.

                        • Sometimes you have to ask yourself, "Am I playing the same game as those that respond to my post?" Great post and I totally agree. Gloves are usually my last masterwork. And sometimes, no higher than level 2, so I can slot the mandatory, useless mods required to take out a couple of champions. These mods should go on weapons. Period. No debate. I got no problem using different weapons. But why compromise our ability to compete or survive?

                        • a good guardian can go into any content with the most random weapon, and still do well. Same goes for weapon variation for mods. If you are inept with them, maybe you should work on you, and not blame something else?

                          • If i want to be honest, i think i dont get bothered by champion mods because there are very few activities where they ACTUALLY matter. In the rest of the game, you can just bypass the whole thing with enough damage.

                            • Go grind Goa master for artificer arms. Use exotics with intrinsic anti champion. Use the elemental ability anti champion mod that isn't on arms. Considering you only need 2 champion mods for activities, you should be fine. For strikes, you don't really need them at lower levels and you can have one person be support/anti champion/div--blam!- if you coordinate. For 6 man activities, you should be able to melt them because of level. Again on harder difficulties, there are 6 of you... Use at least one anti champion mod

                              • This is such an exaggeration of a minuscule issue. What activities are you talking about where we are “forced” to use what Bungie wants us to? The way they have it set it, each season SPOTLIGHTS different weapon archetypes to try out yet you are acting like it’s the end of the world if you change your gear. Also the only activities you NEED them are solo lost sectors and GM nightfalls. That’s only two activities in the entire game yet you all cry that you are being oppressed.
