Sony buying Bungie for 3.6B, what does this mean for the future of Destiny content?

^^^^ Edit: Slightly comfirmed; no exclusives will be released, at least untill after The Final Shape DLC comes out. Bungie still has full creative control over Destiny, including content that would be exclusive (Bungie decides if it will be, which is unlikely because it would limit crossplay and sandbox balancing). Sony just acts as a parent that gives supplys to Bungie to develop a game under their name, meaning Sony had advertising rights and what not. This is preusmed from the updates given by Bungie, PS news, and others.

 • I think Sony just plans to write checks to Bungie, and then leave them alone on the video game front. I think Sony is doing with Bungie what Disney did with Marvel in 2009 and Lucasfilms (Star Wars) in 2012(?). Buying up a company to secure the IP and media rights to its properties. The pay off for Sony isn’t in gaming. It’s in owning a pre-made fictional universe that is RICH with story telling potential, and with a pre-existing and deeply invested fanbase. IOW, a Destiny multimedia universe, and a right to print money….
