I sincerely want to thank Bungie. From a fellow guardian who's light has dimmed...

Hello. I just want to say "Thank You" to Bungie. And I will apologize in advance if this post is too long so I'll be as brief as I can. You see, I just have to say something as I am in need of some encouragement right now. Truthfully, I've been staring at my computer screen on this forum. Simply trying to get the courage to write this. So here goes... My gamer tag is; CombatPanther. I play on the Xbox platform and have met quite a few of you over the years. Both myself and my younger brother; gamer tag, ArmedZero have enjoyed both playing and being active participants in Bungie's world's ever since the very 1st Halo. You see, he lives on the east-coast while I moved out west over 20 years ago. And yes, I would be considered by most to be an "O.G." gamer as I'm in my mid-fifties. My brother is just a few years younger than me. And we have always been close. Being able to be together, even in a video game chat room playing a "game" that we both love...it's powerful! Sometimes we used to get so "amped" playing crucible sometimes, it's just like he's sitting here in my living room with me! This is why I have to thank Bungie and this community both. Sincerely. My brother and I have encountered many, many great people here! We're both Day 1, D1 players and proud of it. It has simply been a gift. However my brother has not been gaming in a quite a while. You see, unfortunately he has had to endure with some major health challenges these past couple of years. And today....I just learned that he has to have part of his lower-leg amputated due to his diabetes. He's also currently on dialysis. So to say that today has been "difficult" is an understatement. I have been trying to use as much strength as humanly possible to try to process this reality. While at the same time being strong for him. Please know, neither myself or my brother Armed are asking anyone, for anything, other than your prayers and encouragement. Heck, my brother doesn't even know I'm writing this. It is something I just felt I "had" to do. You know?... It's the only thing I "can" do.... Right now, I cant help but feel just by typing out these words here....in a small way, is helping me try to deal with this earth-shattering news. In closing, Thank You to anyone who happens to read this post. I feel a little better just getting this off my chest. My brother is a very private person. This is very personal. My brother loves this game. I became a Titan main because of him. He is the strongest Titan I know... God bless you all. Cheers, C.P.

As a fellow Titan and a Type-1 Diabetic, I cast a ward of dawn around him. May the Light bless his health.

    • I feel you, this game has kept me from going into a deep depression with my friends and new friends I've come across as of late. My mother passed 3days before Christmas, which with it has been earth shattering to say the least. But all the things I'm dealing with as a result, has had me stressed and worried beyond belief. I believe it takes 2 things in life to remind you "you're an adult" one is having kids, and 2 is having a parent take the journey onto the otherside. I'd like to think things will get better for you and anyone else going through it. Cause it's sure testing me as of late

Cheers, C.P.
I’m honestly sad to say but, this game has given me a reason to get up everyday. Every day you gotta get up and get on the grind. People are waiting for you to get on everyday. The reason I won’t abandon this game, is that my deep connection and dedication has given me something g to drive for. This game gives me an outlook on life that no other has. With the lore, and the people I have met within this journey. Even if this game goes down, I will be one of the people who will still play it. As long as you keep adding content, giving me a reason to play. I will, this up coming Witch queen will define bungees truth about this game as a whole. I can’t fathom the day when this game is no longer available. I can’t even imagine getting to that point. If it does, please make a new Destiny type game, fill new lights full of hope.gg. Thank you bungee for your derivation to your community’s follow the light

    • Life is precious. My mom died when she was 55. I wasn’t ready for it at all. Life is so hard sometimes, but we have to keep going. Guardians stick together and care for each other, we’ll all be praying for your brother.

    • Sending your brother and you positive thoughts. Hubby and I play together, in our 50s, he has a severe back injury so it's a constant battle to manage the pain and it limiting. D2 has been our date nights, vacation destinations these last few years. If you guys (or one of you) need a hunter/ warlock main duo for some back up, feel free to message. We don't pvp anymore, but we can be very stubborn on the pve side. Wishing you both the best.

Godspeed! All the best for your brothers operation, rehab & recovery I’ve seen some amazing results & sheer determination from amputees (mainly service/sports) If you know anyone in the military, find out if it’s possible to speak with their rehab teams, some of the prosthetic veterans etc (top tip, treat them as normal, never pity them - they’ll kick your aśs!) Gain advice from top quality physios, PT instructors, nutritionists & start that rehabilitation day 1 (healthy mind leads to healthy body) There’s tons of sports clubs, organisations etc that can & will help He can & will still leave a full active & healthy life, lots of drive/determination & fund raising from yourself & family/friends etc Ever heard of the Invictus Games? https://youtu.be/DU8k5OdRkZg There’s many a civilian style club now, for sports, swimming being a challenging physical & rehab activity, From standing up, playing pool, walking, skiing, rugby, running, etc All possible in time! Look into this Genium X3 prosthesis - (which the page describes as the "world's most technologically advanced prosthetic leg".) https://www.ottobock.co.uk/prosthetics/lower-limb-prosthetics/prosthetic-product-systems/genium-x3/ Fundraising, insurance etc….. If you’re not fit/active, then get going (raise funds, build bonds etc) Start here https://rarediseases.org/organizations/national-amputation-foundation-inc/ https://www.amputee-coalition.org/the-amputee-coalition-honors-u-s-veterans-for-their-service/ https://www.ottobockus.com/prosthetics/info-for-new-amputees/information-for-lower-limb-amputees-and-their-families/ And remember Gaming will be a great help to lift his spirits & kick your asš (no pun intended)

    • Sad story but the part about you two playing together on opposite sides of the continent was so cool (trying to get my brother to take up Destiny too). It might break Bungie forum rules to put your brother’s tag in here? Can’t be too careful on the web these days, sadly. Hope things start looking up for your bro soon and you can get back to slaying together.

Best wishes and virtual fist bumps to both your brother and yourself. This was a very moving piece that you wrote and what a wonderful way to introduce us all to what a great guardian your brother is. I am on Xbox as well I have made a new friend who's very close to my 48 years on this rock we play very laidback and casual. Even if we rarely or never get to play together please add me stovepipe73 and perhaps we can play sometime even if it's just to have a chat in this difficult time.
