Bungie and mental health

As someone who has personally supported and still does on a daily basis with me tal health issues, I love and appreciate the fact bungie is putting this out there. I worked in end of life care for several years. The first thing they always tell you when becoming a care worker is not to get too attached. My issue is and was that I couldn't look at my residents as just somthing I needed to do for a job. You do become attached as during the time you spend with them they more often than not would tell you thier life stories. You habe to become attached as your there to ensure that the last days they spend on this earth are the best they can be so you do bend over backwards to help them and in that action you become a part of thier life and they do yours. The issue i had with this is in becoming a friend to them you become the person they ask for in thier darkest hours before the end. I've held the hand and comforted more than my fsir share of people as they breath thier last breath. I watched the life slip away and that hitts you deeply no matter how strong you are. This least me asking a number of questions and looking at my life. I didn't find any answers and wasn't happy with what I could see in myself. I've always tried my best to do what I can for others no matter my attachment to them. This drove me down a path I couldn't navigate and thats where destiny came into my life. I started playing destiny early days as a means to distract myself from the time I would spend sitting in the dark corners of my head. I've since met some amazing people, im an admin in a sizable clan, and spend alot of time inside the destiny world. I'm still not in a grate place and have ran through a multitude of phsycologist, councilors and self help options. The one constant I've been able to latch onto it destiny. So genuinly thank you for that and its grate to see bungie reach out to people in ways there able. From a studio I have alot of hope and respect for. Side note, I would love to see a bungie mental health emblam in the game.

  • What about God? I mean you are doing his work, sending people off to hopefully see him. Ever though of praying? People and life all around the world dies eventually, it’s as natural as breathing. Society views death as a sadness, when in fact it’s like the wind blowing leaves to the ground in autumn, only natural, nothing bad dying an old person. Just my opinion.

    • Has the people that you care for before pass ever happy. Because I used to frequently visit a nursing home when I was younger and during the winter some would pass, and others would be very close and sometimes I would see them and they’d be very happy, and I’d ask them why. They would tell me they believed in heaven and they were so excited to meet their family, I remember this one women who lost her husband due to cancer and her baby at childbirth. It was very sad but she said she’d dream about her baby and that she new she’d see her family again. She lead a very tragic life and told me she was tired of it all and was ready to be happy. Despite how sad i was when she passed, what she told me comfort me, like it comfort everyone who’s time it was before passing. So have you ever talked about that or have they ever heard of people talk about it during your time in that department?

As someone who is a life long sufferer I also use destiny as a way of coping. When its too much for me, I take breaks but it has helped me through alot. I've been building my life back up after my last hospitalisation 6 years ago and the big pieces of advice I can give is do things at your own pace...do not feel pressured by anyone to be ok, be kind to yourself, let yourself feel $hit when you need to. Take care.

          • I can’t bring myself to play trials due to severe depression and anxiety. Like I need any more disappointment in several categories. It’s a shame, but my mental health comes first. Better to never play a single trials game when it’s simply not healthy.
