Destiny 2 Steam Edition VPN Connection Split Tunneling Issues

Hello all! I am currently using the paid version of Proton VPN. I have a function (not entirely sure if its Pronton VPN exclusive) where I can exclude certain executable files (.exe) and/or direct IP addresses from using the VPN tunnel. This allows the executable or IP address to directly connect to my computer and use my standard ISP given IP address. Unfortunately, no matter how many times I've tried, I can't find the executable to add to this exclude list. I want to be able to have my VPN running all the time and not have to disconnect the ENTIRE VPN CONNECTION just to play Destiny 2. I can't get past the login screen with the VPN enabled. The executables that I have added to this exclude list are as follows: (Note: My games are stored on a different drive then the Steam installation folder) ...\steamapps\common\Destiny 2\destiny2.exe ...\steamapps\common\Destiny 2\destiny2launcher.exe ...\steamapps\common\Destiny 2\miniTicketDbg.exe ...\steamapps\common\Destiny 2\battleye\BEService_x64.exe ...\Program Files (x86)\Steam\GameOverlayUI.exe ...\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steam.exe ...\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamerrorreporter.exe ...\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamerrorreporter64.exe ...\Program Files (x86)\Steam\streaming_client.exe ...\Program Files (x86)\Steam\WriteMiniDump.exe ...\Program Files (x86)\Steam\bin\drivers.exe ...\Program Files (x86)\Steam\bin\secure_desktop_capture.exe ...\Program Files (x86)\Steam\bin\steam_monitor.exe ...\Program Files (x86)\Steam\bin\steamservice.exe ...\Program Files (x86)\Steam\bin\steamboxutil.exe ...\Program Files (x86)\Steam\bin\steamboxutil64.exe ...\Program Files (x86)\Steam\bin\x64launcher.exe ...\Program Files (x86)\Steam\bin\x86launcher.exe ... and pretty much any .exe file in "Destiny 2" and "Steam" directories. I have tried searching for almost 4 months now on either what executable should be added so that I can connect to the Destiny 2 servers, or what IP addresses to exclude so again I can connect to the servers. I've tried contacting Proton VPN about this, but unfortunately they don't know anything about it because they aren't the ones creating the game, or know what exe files to exclude. I could just go down the path of installing Glasswire to see what IP addresses Destiny 2 is connecting to, but that isn't going to help if the IP address gets changed or updated. I'm able to exclude other Steam games such as New World's exe file, Elite Dangerous's exe file, and Rust's exe file, and I'm able to connect to those servers just fine, without having to deal with specific IP addresses. If anyone can help me with this ongoing 4+ month long search for the answer that would be very helpful.

  • Doesn't Proton VPN's Split Tunneling work on an "enable list"? Other VPN softwares' Split Tunneling give you the option to either exclude some exe's from running through the VPN (that's how you are doing it) or to enable VPN only on selected exe's (and everything else works though your normal connection).

    • Destiny uses hybrid peer to peer so there are upto 12 different ips that you are connected to during play. Only a hand full are Bungie's, the rest could be any one of the millions of players
