IDEA: Iron Banner Aura that authorizes to play Trials

One of the last major changes for PvP was Trials. And although I don't really play this mode, I think that this was a bit too radical... While the Iron Banner is active, players are no longer allowed to indulge their addiction to becoming flawless. This was implemented this way because you probably assume that Trials and the Iron Banner cannibalize each other. Logical. Maybe this is objectively the case, but in my opinion the Iron Banner is harmed more than helped by this. Because Trials players experience a positive punishment here, psychologically speaking, in that they have to feel deprived every time Iron banner takes place. This creates an unfavorable link -with the iron banner- in the minds of Trials players. And even though the number of players in the Iron Banner may increase, which you then chalk up as a success, the general satisfaction will probably decrease rather than increase as a result. As I mentioned at the beginning, I haven't played a single Trials match in D2 myself, but I'm skeptical about your change, because I don't want to play with or against players who go to the Iron Banner frustrated. Therefore we urgently need a compromise solution here: Why don't you just offer a Trials special quest in addition to the other Iron Banner quests......? When a player has completed all the steps, he or she will receive an aura. Anyone who has earned this aura in the Iron Banner is now eligible to play Trials and can do so even if the Iron Banner is running. The aura lasts as long as the Iron Banner is then running. In addition, any other player without an aura is also eligible to play Trials, as long as they join a squad that has at least one player with that aura. A community mechanic similar to the "Guardiens Games" would also be conceivable here, where Trials is unlocked for all players as soon as enough Auras have been acquired in the Iron Banner. In this way, the iron banner is no longer seen as a "positive punishment" but as an opportunity. Furthermore, players who have earned an Aura can now more quickly join a squad for the Trials of Osiris.

  • What, are you saying that if you don't play IB for that week you can't play the subsequent weeks in ToO? I can understand this if just for that week, making it a requirement till the next IB doesn't. Most ToO players are more than likely to play IB anyway, regardless this is an unnecessary lockout that sounds more harmful than good.
