Hi, I just wanted to share that I'm a below average Trials player doing mostly solo queue and this has been probably the best Trials weekend for me since the beginning of the season including week 1. Freelance was definitely an improvement over the previous weeks and I even almost went flawless on my card before losing but I don't think it solved the issue of massive skill disparity fluctuations between matches for me.
This week I had much more competitive matches all around. I got to 7 wins on my card much sooner on Friday with a reasonable (re: fun) win/loss ratio and have been able to continue pushing my card past 7 wins to farm ascendant shards and other materials today and have been enjoying myself a lot, even when I lose it's not that I'm just getting stomped all weekend hoping for a rare fun match :) looking at trials report I guess my W/L is closer to 50% rather than 30%
I think this matchmaking change was extremely healthy for the mode and with maybe some additional tuning could be exactly what is needed to keep people playing.
I just wanted to post some positive feedback.
I encourage you to look at the data and see what it says anyway in case I'm an outlier/anomaly but I just felt like I wanted to share my personal experience this has been an incredibly positive one for me this week!!

Edited by Baba-Looey: 10/31/2021 7:59:21 PMPsssst. I liked it too. Been playing about 6 yrs, 0.7 kd & loath pvp. Seldom will you find me in crucible, but I do play iron banner & will grind bounties/quests if required. I like playing solo, do not expect Bungie to give me everything because of my decision and am more than happy to grind for hours for rare drops. The first arguement people throw at you is, git gud, find friends or join a clan. Been there, done that, don't care. When you try your best and still get ragged on, you lose your desire to compete. Doesn't matter if it's raids, nfs or pvp. So, we put down the headset, zone out and enjoy the game our way. Have fun! Which brings us to Trials. The day I got whacked by Sola's Scar, I wanted it. But to get it, I gotta tough it out. As a solo player, we're used grinding out long hours for hypothetical drops. That shiny bauble that eludes us all week. We did 100 runs and it never dropped. Waaaaaaaa! Well I grind the lost sectors for exotics and the nfs & gambit for weapons that never drop, so what's the problem with doing Trials? They have attainable loot, that I want. While I agree, there should be a happy balance, the ability to farm casuals, is not a solution. If you're good, you will be rewarded. If you want it given to you, quit acting like a spoiled brat. If you're capable of winning 20 without losing, then you're a god and don't need to play against us peons. In fact, you should be insulted and refuse to play against anyone that is not on your supreme level of gunmanship. We should all bow before you. Anywho....... It's been a fun learning experience. The grind is real, the stomping painful, but I'm at level 12, have a completed 7 win wealth card and astonishing enough, have received a few friend & clan requests for as pathetic as I am. Misery loves company? Maybe. 😊 And if I did learn anything at all, it's follow the warlock on your team. They're usually the better player and know what they're doing. Chill, have fun and a Happy Halloween to all.
