Shattering 1 large stasis crystal (either by shooting or shatter ability) deals 55-80 damage over a 5-8 meter radius. Now glacial grenades spawn 5 large crystals over a 10 meter area. Shattering all 5 deals 275-400 damage over a 15-18 meter area.
Let's be realistic glacial grenade is the problem. Bungie could nerf shatter damage but it would nerf behemoth. So the best solution would be to adjust glacial grenades. They could downgrade them to medium crystals instead of large and this would decrease the damage. They could also remove 1 crystal, but either of these options would still let it ohk. If they did both it would reduce the damage to 160-200 over 10 meters. They could change it to 1 large, 2 medium, and 2 small. This would change the damage to 145- 200 but would reduce the radius and centralize the damage.

Each crystal has a 3 meter radius before it drops off to 20 damage per.

Its farther than that. For point of reference, explosive payload has a 3 meter range. The small crystals might have a 3 meter aoe but the large have something like a 5-8 meter

No...its 3 meters. 5 with fissures. The AOE doesnt change based on size..only the damage. This has been tested and proven.

I dont thin you understand distance scaling inside the game. 1 meter roughly =1 step from your guardian. 3 meters maybe the start of the Aoe damage falloff but the over all aoe (the point you take zero damage) is some where around 5-8 meters.

Yes...after the 3 meters it drops from 50 to 30...then to 20 1 meter after that. I was talking about max damage...

I agree, just last night I threw my bare and was to far to shatter dive it so I shot it with my fusion and got the kill. No shatterdive needed 😁
