Let's talk about Artifact & their mods.

Artifacts are a pretty cool concept thus far. The mods are a great idea too but this season they are obnoxiously inconvenient. We have too many of specific champion mod and some cost upwards of 6 to slot. Putting aside the fact that the very act of re-slotting mods is encumbersom. The cost of some make builds limiting and frustrating. Of course the simple solution is to have teammates that deal with specific champs, but that too is an ordeal. Especially when playing with those you've just met over LFG. Artifacts need a slight rework. As well as infusion in correlation to Artifacts. Weapon and armour infusion should be removed in favor of a more robust leveling experience with artifacts. Do we really need a level cap raise AND a level reset? Grinding is not content. With that in mind, the Artifacts should take over as a sole means of leveling our Light Level. Additionally, certain mods (specifically the champion mods)should be unlockable passives, like the new H.E.L.M passive perks in each wing. This would also help alleviate the incessant need to constantly be swapping our mods and making trips to The Spider to refill glimmer. Saving you time and allowing you to better enjoy the game. I would have row of easy to unlock champion mods and a separate row built sorta like a skill tree. With the skill tree branch you can spec into certain paths that can effect your abilities and unlock more impactful mods that would actually be worth the cost of the mod. The skill tree's would be a bit more of a grind then the champion mods, but grind is 90% of Destiny. But at least this way you are rewarded for your time more appropriately. Extensive grind should be met with equal payout. A change like this would, regardless of time constraints, allow everyone to participate comfortably in any activity without stressing about bad Light Level RNG drops and slotting the wrong mods for the given activity. Notice I said comfortably, not easily. Endgame should still feel like end game. But getting there shouldn't be a massive, time consuming chore. Or force individuals to seek out cheese methods to catch up. On a final note, I know my change would make Trials and Iron Banner a unbalanced mess in regards to light level. A simple fix for that would be to either remove light level advantages or simply put a level cap that increases each time the events return. Honestly I think light level advantages is an imbalanced joke for PvP, but that's a whole other discussion.
