Personally I say Ana Bray because I love watching Zavala get mad. And she's really skilled. I know it feels like replacing Cayde and they don't wanna but they gotta. they're receiving all this political flack from Lakshmi and FWC because they're in a place of weakness. So here's my list of hunter canidates...

Well in the new light campaign the ghost tells you no one wants to be the hunter vanguard out of respect I think. Maybe fear but it is addressed.
-
if it was up to me. the player character

I'm sad sad spelled backwards is das and das not good

Hunters don't need a vanguard, not many hunters even in the city anyway, too busy patrolling and scouting things out. But lets make it Shiro-4, a good buddy of Cayde, and also someone we know from the first game already. Shaw Han wasn't needed and is just some noob filler character, kill him off.

Edited by Ghostfire239: 8/8/2021 10:20:51 PMCrow is the one that the story is building towards, however it would make a lot more sense for Shiro-4 to be the next vanguard. He’s one of the vanguards best scouts/assassins (I think), he’s experiencing, and he was a pretty good friend of Cayde (I think Cayde was his mentor) Crow is a new light and is still learning how to be a guardian. I don’t think it would make much sense for him to be the Hunter vanguard leader, unless it happens WAY later.
-
I want it to be Crow but I actually think the Vanguard as a whole is not long for this world. I think Ikora will get bodied by Savathun and Zavala will lose his shit. Or the other way around.
-
I’m pretty sure Cayde’s Vanguard Dare involved who or whatever killing him becoming the next Hunter Vanguard. Crow is probably being groomed for this position as we speak. Idk I could be wrong, I haven’t read about Cayde in a LONG time lol

No one. Delete hunters.

Edited by Knightlight: 8/4/2021 8:37:11 AMI feel like the duties of the hunter vanguard need to be modified or reformed so that not every hunter hates it. I can propose some ideas if needed. Anyways Crow always wanted to prove himself and be useful. He would make the perfect hunter vanguard. He is redeemed and has a special connection to scorn and eliksni. He is one of my favorite characters and I think it would make for a cool arc. Cayde would be proud of him and how far he's gone. - Shiro is the safest option. Lots of experience and really in to serving the vanguard and has the right mindset for it. Marcus Ren is cool and would be the funniest/most entertaining of the hunter vanguard options. But he is a risk taker and might meet a similar fate as cayde. That mindset wouldn't be suitable for the current conflicts. He'll try to kill savathun then get a sandwich. Shaw Han is a decent pick. But someone needs to keep an eye on the cosmodrome. Plus him just ditching us and almost dying as a result isn't what were looking for in a vanguard member. Ana Bray already said no. She's the warmind hunter, let's keep it that way for her sake. She tends to operate more independently. While still loyal to the vanguard she isn't afraid to disagree and argue with zavala. She is similar to an Arc Trooper from clone wars, you can skip to 6:55 to learn more about arc troopers. She has defied zavala a couple of times and the concern on being a Bray vs being a hunter vanguard would be a concern. I like her independent outlook on things but she just wouldn't have the right mindset for it. She left the city after Twilght Gap to pursue warmind related stuff. Zavala realizes this so he wants her to focus on what she does best, getting rasputin back in action. Efrideet is someone I don't know enough about when it comes to vanguard service. Shin Malpher/ Dredgen Vale has experience but like Ana is occupied with his own affairs. Making sure guardians don't fall to the dark like Rezyl Azzir/Dredgen Yor. Especially with stasis being a thing. If you become corrupted, that warlock is the least of your concerns. Plus drifter would be on edge. - In order are best to worse options in my opinion -Shiro -Shaw -Crow -Marcus -Shin -Efrideet -Ana

Cayde-6.9

I don't want crow as the vanguard. He's way too new to be a leader. Shiro on the other hand, I liked Shiro and wpuld love to see him return. Plus he made a joke about warlocks once.

Edited by Taxathûn, God of the IRS: 8/4/2021 11:54:51 PMWho should be? Shiro-4. He's experienced and certainly has the rep to command authority. Ana is too......self centered to be a good Vanguard. I mean she ditched the City in the middle of Twilight Gap. Who will most likely become the Hunter Vanguard? Crow. In my opinion he's too inexperienced to be a good Vanguard. But in all likelihood he'll the next Vanguard because no other Hunter wants it, Crow however just wants to be accepted. His past as Uldren also means most Guardians, especially Hunters, won't be too accepting at first. And the Reef-born Awoken may or may not like this decision. Uldren did lead a whole war on his own people.

I usually respect people’s thoughts Who ever voted Shaw Han I hope you rethink your life soon.

Edited by Foxlariat: 8/6/2021 1:04:13 AMeither shiro or crow shiro because he’s experienced, smart, and has good leadership skills. and in the lore it states that cayde was his mentor, which would make perfect sense as to why he would take over hunter vanguard on the other hand, crow is tangled in the vanguard dare business since he’s technically the one who killed cayde (and the whole vanguard dare itself has been up for debate) but it seems like he’s being set up for hunter vanguard anyway. he also has leadership skills, and compassion!
now if we want to get real technical, it should be my guardian 1, the vanguard dare states that the person who kills cayde gets the hot seat, and uldren killed cayde, then my guardian killed uldren 2, my guardian is a hunter, so in the words of todd howard, it just works and 3, saying my guardian is experienced is an understatement considering of how many hive gods, kells, vex minds, and all else she’s killed. i mean who is possibly more qualified than the kingslayer, godslayer, iron lord, hivebane, rivensbane, hero of the red war, blah blah blah?
If Crow gets to be the hunter vanguard after literally genociding our allies, killing Cayde-6, and lying to people for months. I’m just gonna hate the whole class of hunter. Bro, just let the Hunter players take that mantle somehow, or get Ana. Like holy shit.

Why wouldn’t it be Shiro-4? It makes sense to mw

I personally think the writing has set it up for Crow. Seems a lot of people aren't on board with this, which is fine, everyone is entitled to their opinions. Cayde-6 is loved by the community, and why should he not be, he's our deadpool. I personally never met the man, but i read his journal... The Vanguard Dare is a joke. No hunter wants the role. It is a dare, a prize with a bad reward. Cayde even mentions that he created the dare on a whim, on his own hubris. The set up for Uldren/crow to be the new hunter vanguard is brilliant because it forces him into the role. Does any hunter want the role? It is only fitting that the man who pointed this out essentially thought he was taking the role for life; saving hunter's from the politics, and forcing his killer into a fate worse then death. I know a lot of you despise Uldren, but from my days of watching WWE have tought be anything it is the worse villains that become the best bad guys. The about face from heel to hero is always a great trope. Not to mention that from a lore perspective; Crows fate as Hunter Vanguard is a suitable punishment for the murder of Cayde.

Edited by Bush's Baked Beans: 8/6/2021 3:18:44 AMCrow because vanguard dare. Any other option is wrong. This thread is locked and all comments besides this one will be deleted Edit - before I get more comments, let me introduce you the ship of Theseus, a philosophical thought experiment dealing with identity: Imagine a ship built for war, that is part of the fleet battle after battle. After every battle, the ship has to come to shore to repair different parts of the ship, up until the every single component of the ship is no longer original. Is this still the same ship, or has it lost its original identity? Some guiding questions - If Crow's character is dependant upon his previous life than has he truly lost the identity of uldren? (There's a reason why crow isn't some Joe schmo guardian) At what point does crow lose the identity and deeds of uldren, or is it impossible?
-
The dare will force crow to do it

Edited by Natdeguerre: 8/5/2021 11:53:48 PMWhy not Eris? She may be damaged as a guardian per se, but she has the experience and it would do her good to stay away from the front lines for once.

Under the current system, no one. The Vanguard, or at least our current Vanguard system, is outdated and currently serve more as political leaders to the Consensus than actual class leaders. Outside of events, you don't really hear much about them advising the classes anymore. If the Vanguard system wants to continue, it needs to all be new blood. Appoint both a new Titan and Warlock Vanguard in addition to a new Hunter Vanguard. They act as the ones to advise the classes going forward, taking some of the burden off the old Vanguard so the latter can focus on more important tasks.
-
no one. after the death of Uldren Sov, there is no successor. the Vanguard Hunter position is not on Votes. its by participating in the Vanguard Dare. no hunter took part in the Dare. there will be no Hunter Vanguard.
