At 25 years old, the TV show Arthur is the second longest running cartoon after The Simpsons.
Its common in cartoons to have women voice young boys. Arthur does the extreme opposite. During the original casting, the show runners felt the girls trying out for the part of Arthur's younger sister DW kept coming off as too sweet. They eventually asked one of the boys trying out for Arthur to read her lines. They felt his reading added a level of grit that better fit the character's tomboyish and rough around the edges personality. The character has been voiced exclusively by boys ever since.

"Hey hey what a wonderful kind of day where we learn to work and play And get along with each other!"

For some reason I always remember that last line as “it’s time for revolution”.

*Aifos’ subconscious is the solution.

When you can get Ziggy Marley, son of Bob Marley, to do your theme song...

I had no clue lol. I do remember the show being pretty down to earth on quite a few subjects.
-
Huh, I did not know Arthur was still running.
-
Apparently it's ending next year after its 25th season.
-
Dang, has Arthur really been running that long? It’s as old as me!
-
Came out in 1996, yeah. One of the voice actors actually has a podcast where he tries to track down and talk to other guys who voiced DW about their unique experience. The book series is way older than that, starting with Arthur's Nose in 1976, in which it was way more obvious he's an aardvark.
-
I didn’t even know there was a book series. >.> That also sounds like an oddly specific podcast. :p

I was more of a Little Critter kid myself but but we had a few Arthur books growing up.

Yeah, Little Critter’s what I mostly had, too. That & Ruby & Max. I think it was called Ruby & Max. The one with the rabbit siblings.
